Sorry if this is a rehash, but has anybody found a reasonable solution to
the CMR2 demo (and full game from what I've heard) freezing at the first
corner when running on a Voodoo3?
My specs: PII 333, 128MB RAM, Voodoo3 3000 (latest 1.07 drivers), DirectX 8,
Diamond Monster MX300 sound card. I've tried the 1.05 patch for the game as
well.
Some have suggested installing 1.05 V3 drivers or DX7a, but I'm not willing
to do that. I'm not stepping back that far just to play one (demo) game.
I really can't believe this game was released with this big a bug.
Regardless of who is at fault (3dfx vs. Codemasters) the blame will get laid
on the publishers. There are a lot of V3 owners out there and most of us
religiously download the latest drivers when they come out, as the tech
support guys always as that first ("did you try the updated drivers?").
Just reinstall Voodoo3 1.05 driver. DX7a is not needed.
Or skip the demo.

Actually v1.05 drivers work fine with DX8. I had to revert back from v1.07
drivers and haven't had any problems with any other games I play (GPL,
Combat Mission, N4 demo) either.
But you're right, how the hell did this bug slip through the testers is
beyond me!
