I am very upset with Act Labs right now, my Force RS broke and I called and ordered parts on Dec.8, as of today I still do not have them. I have talked 4 of my friends into buying the whole Force RS/ Shifter combo like mine, telling them it was the best thing out there but now they are worried about support as well if something happens to theirs. I am 37 years old and have not abused the wheel at all , I must also say after taking the thing apart to see what broke I was very shocked to see that they used a piece of plastic as a coupling of the wheel to the pot, this is what broke in mine. Why did they not use something stronger?, A machined piece of metal would have never done this, as strong as the motor and effects are with this wheel its just a matter of time if you have one before it breaks. Because of this I have ordered a new older model Logitech Forumula Force I found new on Ebay, I heard it was cable drive and should be smoother than the gear drive, if nothing else maybe I can combine the two wheel like Slot @ (www.tweakfiles.com) has done and get a good one. His hybrid wheel looks awesome.
I read that they sold out all their units for delivery before Christmas. Maybe they are going through a seasonal rush? And to think that I sent ACT-Labs my RS shifter when it wasn't shifting properly and received it back in about a week with updated features. Now I can unplug it and plug it back in whenever I want to use it without having to do a restart. I don't call that bad support. I was impressed that I received it back about a week after I mailed it to them. -- Robert Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
Hmmm.......ACT-Labs has a reputation of being a very responsive company. I know they are extremely backed up right now with the Christmas crunch. I too have been waiting for my 5 speed shifter plate for GPL and just sent them an E-mail. They got back to me promptly saying that all orders for this particular item should be shipped by Friday and sure enough I got the shipping confirmation E-mail today. Have you contacted them regarding the status of your order? Based on my experience I find it hard to believe they would ignore you if you have. -- Chris "Ambulater" Lee "Don't Bother Running.........You'll Just Die Tired." As soon as Raymond sees a thread with that title he will be on the case. :-) "mjones53" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I am very upset with Act Labs right now, my Force RS broke and I calledand > ordered parts on Dec.8, as of today I still do not have them. Hmmm, Actlabs is known for an excellent service. Probably a Christmas-related delay. About the plastic part: If you machine all the small thingies from metal, the wheel costs at least double the price. I don't know the guts of the Actlabs wheel in particular (I'm more on the Logitech side), but this defect sounds like a secondary defect after something was locking up inside your wheel. Probably GTXSlot has an answer for that.
