I've had a problem with GPL since I installed it 8 months ago. I have to exit and restart the program to get my engine sound. I can hear the wind, the tires, etc... Sometimes I have to restart the program several times before I get the engine sound, and then it seems to work until after a random number of spinouts or replays or something, and I have to exit and restart again. This (and the fact that I am slooooowwwww) keeps me from playing the game very often. This is the only game I have a problem with, but I don't have a lot of games. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have an idea on how to fix it? Thanks, Mike
I have a similar problem but it's very random. After a shift-R the engine sound goes to crap but only above a certain RPM. Sometimes shift-R will fix it, sometimes going to "the pit", or sometimes restarting the games fixes it. It was worse with the Eagle and hardly ever happens with the Lotus (go figure). W2K Pro, ASUS CUV4X MB, SB Live! Value. I have heard of issues with the VIA chipset and the SB Live... I have a new Intel 815E-based board to try after Xmas. I think the cause is the extremely buggy Liveware drivers, but I can't be sure because the same happens only in Papy's games (GPL&N4demo). -- Mika Takala [email hidden] ICQ UIN 14314015
You could try uninstalling LiveWare and using the default W2K drivers for the card. If that fixes it then you'll have identified the problem. I'm not going to worry about it until I build my new system after the holidays.
