OK, first system specs
gforce 2
dx8
force rs + rs shifter
sb live
latest drivers for everything
I recieved a Force Rs and shifter for the holidays, set it up and everything
worked fine. As I was trying all my games with the new wheel I loaded Viper
Racing and Viper patch, tried the game and the force feedback worked fine.
But as soon as I tried GPL again it hangs when I enter a race and I have to
Hard boot, It also hung on every other racing game I tried, ie: Nascar 4
demo, Heat and GP3.
I tried everything, ie: setting gforce drivers to default, remove wheel.
So in a last gasp effort I reinstalled Windows 98 SE, reloaded GPL, Patch,
DX8 and DX8 patch for GPL. AND IT STILL HANGS, I also reinstalled GP3 and
it HANGS.
Does anybody have any Ideas what happed and how to get going again???

Sounds like sound or mem probs...yank the live and a stick of RAM and see if
it still hangs

you have installed, but it is very important that you install the D3D
patch in order for the GeForce to work with GPL as the game was
designed to operate on the Glide engine with Open GL. As far as DX
goes.. I only have experience with DX7 and have almost the same setup
as you do

By 'hangs' do you mean freezes or exits to windows? GPL often sits there
for a while doing nothing while it communicates with your modem. If it's
freezing, try leaving it for a minute, or changing 'disable_modem' in the
core.ini to 1. In case you're wondering, GPL + DX8 + GF2 runs fine for me.
