First - I was impressed with the turnout. We had a full field for the start - 10 Ferraris, 4 Brabhams, 2 Lotuses(Lotii?), and 3 Coopers. Our 5th place qualifier, Neil Wood, got disco'd before the start. On the grid, I said "Don't hit the host". So what happens? Lap 3 - run over by a fellow Ferrari. Grrr... This was a guy who apparently got caught in someone else's wreck, and was determined to get back to the front by any means necessary. He had problems passing a backmarker who was all over the road, and I got by him again. Of course, he caught me again, and this time I gave him a WIDE berth. That guy didn't care who he ran over, and ended up leaving in a huff, accusing people of blocking... A couple laps later - I got punted by a lapping car, of all people. This one bothers me too, because as soon as I saw the blue flag, I gave him all the track I could. I guess it wasn't enough. I'm pretty sure it was a Brabham. Grrr, again. A few more laps - I got a black flag. Warp-induced, I'm assuming. Served my stop/go penalty, continued the race. Since I was now well back in the order, I found myself following Dave Ewing(7th place at the time, I think), who had lapped me. I was actually able to catch him, but he spun off before I had to try to pass him. During this time I also saw some more warping, and expected another black flag. I didn't get it until later, on a lap where I didn't even SEE any warping. I guess the flagman just woke up. I also threw it off the track once trying to let one of the leaders by. Other than that, I just survived, moving up as people dropped out. Our car wasn't quite running perfectly. We had another full race the previous night(against the AI), and had a problem with the shifting button. I was able to finish the race, even though I bent the suspension on lap 46. 2nd place, 52 seconds behind Clark. My mechanic was able to fix the suspension for the Tuesday race, but didn't work on the shifting mechanism. The lazy bum should have stayed up all night if necessary to fix the problem. Come to think of it, he STILL hasn't fixed it. I need to have a talk with that guy...<g> Ok, the box score reads - 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error. I got the black flag twice, got hit twice, and fell off the track once. Even after all that, I think I had gotten back on the lead lap when I dropped out. I'm proud of that... :) High Climbers: Jens gained 12 - from 13th to 1st - congrats! I gained 12 - from 15th to 3rd. Jan gained 14 - from 16th to 2nd! But, the replay doesn't show the first 11 laps!!!!! Dammit - I wanted to 1) see how the start looked, and 2) find out who ran me over. Can anybody help me out there? Ok, as I've stated in another message, we're going to run a full race at Nurburgring at 1pm EST Saturday. I *think* that's what I said...<my mind's going...> Eldred - I've typed for long enough now...<g> -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL F1 hcp. +28.80...F2 +151.26...F3 hcp. +373.73 Never argue with an idiot. If you are still doing them in the new year I'll certainly drop by. Maxx

Thus I have some guys (Stian, Andre, Zipprich, Simmons et al) pretty much as long as the were driving (an awful lot of Jan). Unfortunately I don't pick you up in my replay until you leave the pits on lap 14. From then on, I believe I have the complete Eldred files, but then so do you. > Ok, as I've stated in another message, we're going to run a full race at > Nurburgring at 1pm EST Saturday. Entrance fee is $35. You can mail it to me. Or, just show up and we'll see if there is space left :) Andre

Andre, I normally wouldn't drag this out in public, but where is my $500 purse? And while you're at it I'm sure Jan would like his $200. Jens, wishing for a mental lapse in Holland. :-)

I'd say it's pretty much first come, first served... I didn't password the last race, which may have contributed to a 'suspect' driver or two. We'll see what happens this time. > >Mikkel > >PS: what's 1 EST in GMT or CET ?? Can't help you with that. You're welcome! Journalism? Although it sounds interesting, I'd never make deadlines. The race was TUESDAY, remember? <g> Besides, I'm not sure that people would want to hear me 'ramble' on a regular basis... That is a sure sign that you are on to something big Eldred ;) Mikkel

I had an outstanding connection throughout (.9xx quality, .2xx latency) and was really enjoying the racing - very clean. At one point I went into Tarzan three wide and no one touched - amazing. At any rate, after about 20 laps, my wife and kids returned and either my wife picking up the phone - we have two lines on one cordless phone - or my kids starting to play with their new remote controlled PC Cruisers, caused an immediate disco. Bummer. What color was your helmet for that race, Eldred? I didn't know you were behind me since if you were a lap down you wouldn't show up on my pit board. Anyway, thanks again. I look forward to more of your races, although I will have to miss the next one at the Ring unfortunately (gotta watch the Rams in the NFL playoffs). Dave Ewing

You're welcome. Sucks about the disco. You just need another phone line.. I wonder how much Ameritech has made off the new installs for online racers...? :) I was driving in all red, car and helmet.<g> >Anyway, thanks again.
