EA Sports Sports Car GT

Is Sports Car GT an older game (sim)? I got the demo with a Logitech wheel that was given to me for Xmas. Not as good as N3 or GPL but reminds me (fondly) of Viper. Electronic Arts web site has NOTHING on the game. I kind of like it and would buy the full version if I could fix a few things. I really would like to be able to hear my engine while in traffic. I do pretty well when not near anyone, but in traffic it's real hard to judge when to shift without watching the tach. If I could fix that I would buy the program. Anybody know if there is a way to fix this? I've looked for an INI file or config to mod but with no luck. THX in advaance, Charlie.

The EA site is here http://www.sportscargt.com I used rrevved's sound pack version 2.0 that fixes the sound volume problem. Better than I remember it. That's probably because I've been driving so much GPL lately which is quite barren in the graphics department. The cars are quite driveable and it makes a nice diversion when you've had it with GPL. Look for the Advanced Options patch (a search engine will find it) to use "real" physics and the game becomes a nice sim. Without the patch the grass is really sticky and the cars seem too well stuck to the road. For me SCGT is fun... The game has a career mode, you have to win races to unlock more tracks and cars...or use the cheat codes: At the game menu, type "isi-cheeseman" to enable cheat mode. Absolutely get the Advanced Options Editor. Brings a little more sim to the driving. I'll admit I'm not 100% sure if they threw it in just before the original release or with the official patch, but if you have installed the 1.551 patch, all you need to do is cycly through the views and the cockpit will appear. You can also set that to the default view. And, there are 100's of custom made cars, many of those have custom dashes as well. The solution to the open cockpit cars was interesting, since one of SCGT limitations was the roof could not be removed, they went for a helmet view. (they being the group of car painters and builders who kept adding to SCGT long after EA moved the ISI team to work on F12k.) dave henrie

Thanks again, guys. I found and insrtalled the "official" patch and the sound patch. Much better. Now if I could only getr rid of the annoying skipping. It is intermittant and the video and sound kind of stop. All of my racing games (sims) do it so it is a system problem. Been trying to figure it out for a year and a half. Been watching this and other ng's and tried a few things to no avail. HELP. Charlie >

Oldie but a goodie. It's ususally in the $9.95 bin these days, along with Viper Racing, and both are very much worth buying. Viper Racing never really got all the respect it deserved.
