Improving on the excellent form shown at Zandvoort, Jan V. was the only
driver who completed 9 laps on the cruel Nrburgring.
G.B. took the early lead in the accident dominated race until a smoothly
running G. Smiley overtook him on lap 2. Smiley looked completely
uncatchable despite his start from the rear of the field. Clocking an
amazing 8.23 followed by an impressive 8.25 under immense pressure,
Smiley seemed to be getting a comfortable lead from G.B. when a squirrel
crossed the road at Tiergarten causing Smiley to veer into the armco
loosing both left wheels.
The race was now in the hands of G.B. who had a distant Mochlos
Hellblade as his closest competitor. However earlier engine problems
resurfaced as G.B: was unable to make it through Nordkeile. It is
believed that a message from the pits regarding the crash of R.Squires
received seconds before the incident caused him to lose concentration in
those fatal seconds when he should be braking.
Finding himself in the lead Hellblade started pushing hard for a big
lead, perhaps planning a pit stop for bladder maintenance. Unfortunately
Schwedenkreutz proved his undoing as he lost traction and spun into the
fence. Curiously in the exact same place as J.Kruuse's lap one accident.
Thumbtacks were found on the track after the race and foul play against
both Danes is being investigated.
Topi Paavola and Jan Verschueren continued on with Paavola being 5-10
seconds faster each lap. On lap nine he finally went a bit too fast and
crashed into the bridge at the lowest point of the track.
Alone at last, Jan Verschueren completed the lap and as he crossed the
finish line the race officials stopped further racing.
Jan has now proven himself a fine endurance driver at Zandvoort as well
as Nrburgring and must be the man to beat in the upcoming GP at
Eldredsville.
Congratulations to Jan, and thanx to Eldred for hosting another fine
race. Our hearts are with him in his place of refuge as the officials
banned his car before the start. Reasons unknown but the huge aerofoil
in the rear is suspected to be the culprit.

It was not Jens. It was me <blush>.
I somehow forgot that I need to brake before T1. Realizing that I came in
way too fast, I tried to avoid rearending the polesitter by going off the
track. I did not feel comfortable at all with risking to crash out the
polesitter in a full GP with pro damage mode. T1 crashes at full GP's are
plain silly. I hope my actions did not end anyones race.
Full GP with pro damage at the Ring....... <head shaking>
My race ended after approx 4 minutes when a brigde all of a sudden jumped
out from nowhere into the road and stole my right front wheel (actually I
missed my braing point severely).
Anyway: Full GP's are huge fun. I'd like to do this again.

YEAHHHHH
Jens H. Kruuse wrote...
> <nice report snipped>My race was pretty uneventfull except for the first lap. At T1 I had to take
to the grass (suffered a slight scrape on the fence) and even had to stop a
bit further on. A gap openen and I drove through it. Approaching Nordkehre I
noticed the familiar Brabham/Tan Helmet combination of George Smiley. The
way he confidently moved to inside shut off late and went down the gearbox
made it a positive ID. Now, I respect George, as I respect anyone who can
lap me 3 times in a 50% GP distance F2 race, so I decided to give him room.
As soon as I did I knew I'd made a mistake, for I was certain there was an
<censored> behind who thought he could brake just as late as the talented
Brabham driver. I wasn't wrong and duly received a Ferrari up the backside.
Spun out against the fence I waited for the field to go through before
rejoining. Wasn't long before I caught up with the tail end again, following
another(?) Ferrari from a distance. As the driver was pretty erratic I
decided to just wait for him to do himself in rather than risk getting
caught up in his accident. Also a bit of a mistake as I was driving below my
cruising speed to do so. Made a judgement error, put a wheel off and shoved
it in the hedge between Kallenhard and Wehrseifen. Thinking I was last on
the track I immediatly selected reverse, but backed off just in time to
allow a Lotus through (that has to be you, Andre?).
I must say lady luck smiled on me last night, as I never incurred any
serious damage, not even when I got "nicked" by a recovering Ferrari out of
Karussel. All in all a pretty uneventfull, neigh cowardly drive.
The finish also was a bit of a non-event. I didn't even get flagged. But the
paper made up for that. <g>

Nice tactic, putting the burden of expectation on me! ;-)
Eldredsville.... lol, that name deserves a track. Wonder if the GPLEA boys
are reading this.

Thank you. I appreciate you returning the favour in publicising my win a
little.
Eldred: thanks for hosting. another great connect with jut a few stutters in
evidence (luckily not in dangerous places this time).

Why not? I don't have to work tomorrow and I'm the designated driver

What track? Silverstone or Monza may be boring tracks but I bet you'd
get a few more finishers than the last 2 :-)

As for the St. Eldred's cup.... well they'll have to cannonize (--> is that
the correct term?) some other guy to serve as a target for aspirering
drivers or seperate St. Eldred, the icon, from Eldred Pickett, the driver.
You're getting way too quick. ;-)
