I got a MS Sidewinder wheel and would like to have the feel of a stick shift to go with it. Is there a standalone stickshift you can buy to go along with it? Does the Act Labs work with the MS wheel or only their RS wheels? Right now I'm just using a joystick as a shifter.
The AL shifter looks awesome. I can't wait to see a USB version for other wheels. I was wondering. How many games fully support the random gear shifting? It'd be cool to shift into 2nd from 5th in one swoop. Games I play right now, Need for Speed, only allow sequential shifting. Any ideas if there are people making their own shifters? I was thinking about buying a shift knob and putting it on a joystick and map it to shifting up and down. Not as realistic as the AL shifter but could be doable. There is a charity-ware program called "Shift-It" for the AL shifter that allows for direct shifting in nearly any game including NFS. -- Chris "Ambulater" Lee "Don't Bother Running.........You'll Just Die Tired." Now if only someone would make a similar utility to allow you to map each gear to a keyboard key or joystick button. Then you would be able to hack a joystick/keyboard and make your own free-shifting stick-shift. The possibilities could be endless. Sort of like what classic gamers are making with keyboards/gamepads/joysticks to play arcade games. http://www.arcadecontrols.speedhost.com/arcade.htm On Sat, 30 Dec 2000 23:28:57 -0600, "Ambulater" <[email hidden]> wrote: >There is a charity-ware program called "Shift-It" for the AL shifter that >allows for direct shifting in nearly any game including NFS.
