After a long time i decided to go online, this is the best choice i made in a long time. After celebrating new year i decided to give it a try, i thought it would be very difficult. But Winvroc is a easy to use program, you klik on the race you want to join and you can drive against the best. The first race was a disaster, the start went very good for the first time. But after a half lap or so there was a big crash and i could not pas it. After 2 days of playing online i know you must have a cable connexion to play the game at his full. I have a ISDN connexion, somtimes the cars disapear right in front off you and they come back on the track when you are on full speed BAMMMM. The times the drivers do on the tracks are amazing, at Bugatti i do a 1:42 , they do a 1:37. Practice, practice, practice. I must thank Andre Warringa for his help for getting me online Many thank's See you online Carlo

The trick is to find the most stable race servers, not always those with the lowest ping! In my experience, if a server works well for you today, it always will. So keep at it and try to remember whose server you're on! As an aside, I'd like to thank all those people who provide servers in VROC. Happy new year Michael

This is normal, you'll get used to this... >After 2 days of playing online i know you must have a cable connexion to >play the game at his full. No... In fact, I have a cable connection at home, and it does give me very good pings. But the quality of a cable connection is often much worse than with analogue or isdn connection. Last year I had a league race and I got disco's from allmost all races. Some people told me to use a 56k6 modem for online racing instead of my cable connection. They even adviced me to set it to 28k8 for an even more stable connection. It doesn't sound logical, but it was true!! Hardly disco's at all, and the warping (disappearing of other cars etc) is not any worse or better than with my cable connection. >I have a ISDN connexion, somtimes the cars disapear right in front off you >and they come back on the track >when you are on full speed BAMMMM. Don't forget, this doesn't have to be caused by your connection. If the other driver has a bad connection between him and the server, he is the cause of the warping. When you select a race from the vroc-list, I never join races with a ping of more than 500 or so. I allways choose races with a ping < 300 for best results. >The times the drivers do on the tracks are amazing, at Bugatti i do a 1:42 , >they do a 1:37. >Practice, practice, practice. The spooky thing is: these guys also had hardly any practice at Bugatti, since it was released that day.. >I must thank Andre Warringa for his help for getting me online No problem! After you had your first online race, I noticed you a couple of times in other races. Yep, another VROC addict.. Andre

Welcome Carlo, glad you have finally discovered GPL on-line.. Regards connections, as Andre has already said, the speed of the connection is not important, but the quality is. I have a 56k modem, but i only ever connect to GPL on-line at 26400 baud, and i have good connections. I live in Australia, and i race in a USA based league, and have done ever since the day that GPL was released, and my pings are NEVER under .600 and are usually in between .600 and .750 and i race at those ping levels, inches apart with the guys in my league, without a single warp or any spatial displacement. So don't think a ping over .600 is no good for on-line play with GPL, because it is absolutely fine, as long as your quality is around the 990 to 1.000 mark. For me, in F1 pings of up to .650 are perfect and warp free. In F2/FD pings up to .700 are the same. In F3/FG pings up to .800 are the same. Good luck with your on-line career, i am sure you will have a lot of fun, but don't be put off by a few accidents at Monza, that track attracts accidents. :) Cheers, Ron Carlo <[email hidden]> wrote in article <92ska2$9i2$[email hidden]>... > After a long time i decided to go online, this is the best choice imade in > a long time. > After celebrating new year i decided to give it a try, i thought itwould be > very difficult. > But Winvroc is a easy to use program, you klik on the race you want tojoin > and you can drive against the best. > The first race was a disaster, the start went very good for the firsttime. > But after a half lap or so there was a big crash and i could not pasit. > After 2 days of playing online i know you must have a cable connexionto > play the game at his full. > I have a ISDN connexion, somtimes the cars disapear right in frontoff you > and they come back on the track > when you are on full speed BAMMMM. > The times the drivers do on the tracks are amazing, at Bugatti i do a1:42 ,

How do some people manage to attain times on the day of a tracks release that I will never beat? It's so annoying! Chris
>I have a ISDN connexion, somtimes the cars disapear right in front off you >and they come back on the track >when you are on full speed BAMMMM. If ALL the cars around you disappear, it is either your connection or your ISP having a little "gap" in communications, or the server is overloaded, or a bird is nesting on the telegraph pole that carries your phoneline, or your phoneline is affected when the refridgerator/microwave oven/washing machine is switched on or off!! If some cars disappear and some stay on screen, then it is the cars who disappeared whose connections are bad. from Lol SpeedFreek <uh-oh it's a signature> UKGPL http://www.ukgpl.com GPL Rank: -12.15 107% Average:104.525% http://www.speedfreek.clubferrari.com
