Does anyone know of a cockpit for GPL with a speedometer? Or, failing
that, some way to get a speed reading of some sort with the in cockpit
view?

No such thing Tyler. Everybody wants this when starting out, actually,
I still want it;-) With time you will develope a sense of speed using
your tach and by what gear your in.

Come see how you rank, at the GPLRank site
http://gplrank.ringlord.com/
You don't need to know the speed, Tyler, in order to drive effectively.
You can gauge your relative velocity by the engine sound and the rpm.
After a while, the actual mph becomes irrelevant.

The only method you can use is to map F10 (external view) to a button on
your wheel and briefly (emphasis on that... ;) check your speed. Under the
wire after the masta kink at Spa and the red sign after the s/f line at
Monza are two places I like to check speed on some laps.

The GPL Scrapyard - http://www.hillclimbfan.f2s.com
"After all, a mere thousand yards - such a harmless little knoll, really" -
Raymond Mays on Shelsley Walsh.
What they say, however:-
You could alter the "player.ini" file in C:\SIERRA\gpl\players\Eaves__Tyler.
By altering the "drivingView" line to =12 you will get the Roll Hoop view
which will give you a slightly better view of the apex and you will also be
able to see your speed. BE WARNED once you get used to this view it is very
difficult to go back to the normal cockpit view.
Hope this works for you. Worth a try anyway.
Cheers
Stewart
P.S.
Nose Cone View No. 9 is very interesting particularly in traffic. It gives
a great sensation of speed.
