Hi!
Having read this thread: news:9304r2$db0$[email hidden] I got the idea
to post the following list which shows my personal top 6 of corners where my
races are ended by others or where I fuck up races of others ;):
1) Curva Grande, Monza, especially in lap 1
2) Tarzanbocht, Zandvoort
3) Nouveau Monde, Rouen
4) Lesmo 1, Monza, especially in lap 1 in cases where 1) doesn't happen ;)
5) Parabolica, Monza, especially with AI
6) Crowthorne Corner, Kyalami
And you?
Regards
Crash

Interesting that 3 of your top six are at what is 'beleived' to be the
easiest track in GPL. As for #5, it is only a problem if a certain White
Honda is
anywhere within 2 miles(:>) of your braking point...

I would also like to point out that there notheing wrong with the tracks...
the problem is that people dont seem to understand that you dont win a race
on the first lap - you win it on the last.

I absolutely agree....no race is won on the first bend.....it constantly
amazes me that the VROC drivers head flat out into the first bend of
(insert any track here) and then complain bitterly that its not their fault
when there is a major pileup. Then again overtaking on VROC is fraught with
danger as well:)

Eldred ran some GP-length races a while back that were the exact opposite.
Everybody was on tippy-toes the first couple of laps. Very polite, and still
lots of fun.
The problem is two-fold: first is good old "red haze" - you get excited and
forget about cold tires. Secondly, many people don't practise driving off
the "best" line, so when they go in two-wide they don't know what to do.

races can be won on the start...or at least positions can be changed
dramatically that stuck throughout the race. As Carroll Smith says, every
position you gain in qualifying or on the start is one less person you have
to pass to win the race. Isn't it easier to win a race when you are leading
on the start vs last place on the start? People just go about the starts
the wrong way. Passing is ok, but it is only good if you pass cleanly, no
dive bomb passes into T1, no 3 wide...make a move, let it stick, and stay
within your limits. It can all work out, you just have to race drivers that
know the limits.

What is it with the AI and Parabolica anyway? The only way I get through
here reliably against the AI without being punted on braking is to be
in last place. And I don't think I brake *that* early.

I don't have a problem with the rest unless I'm TRYING to go fast. The above
screw me up sometimes even if I'm just cruising...

But we aren't racing modern F1. We are Gentlemens racing an unstable
platform where contact can often mean havoc for more people then reality.
It's just using common sense to stop thinking about selfish actions on
starts and think about having a good start for all.

During a normal race this isn't a real problem, you can brake just as

Quite ... I got a video of old newsreel footage of GP racing for
Christmas and one item on a Monaco GP in the 60s commented on the front
2 drivers exchanging the lead on virtually every lap.
