GPL always looked pretty stunning under Glide on my old SLI'd Voodoo2
setup, but I've since upgraded to a Diamond Viper V770. Any way I can
persuade GPL to render under Direct3D?

yes there is a d3d patch at papy.com. make sure you follow the install
instructions and there is some text lines you probably have to change in
your core.ini file, these notes are in the readme.
