Breaking 1:28 at Monza in GPL

Sebastien Tixier explained how he reached a 1:27.87 at Monza, crediting softer pedals and Greger Huttu's setups. Others shared their own times and frustration at the world records, and the thread drifted into quotes from Goethe, Dante and Wagner.

Hi Finally, after few months, i manage a 1:27.87 at monza ! I'm so happy ! And since i change somethings i manage to do it consistently : 1) I broke a part of my MS FF accel spring's pedal. ( well now it's softer ) 2) I remove the squash ball behind the brake pedal 3) I used GH setups instead of Leonardo Setups... So, now i manage to brake more precisly, i'm gonna re-try all the tracks :o) Maybe, that was the key, i prefer soft instead of hard pedals :o) New Goal : beat my 8:08 at the ring... sub 8:00 is the goal - sick! ... need to put a ringtrainer's shortcut on desktop :o) . regards, -- Seb - Game Developer GPLRank -36.56 http://magicfr.multimania.com

Damn Sebastien, 27.87 at Monza, 8:08 at the Ring, you -are- improving... Yesterday I broke my pb with 27.60. But it's getting really difficult now to improve even further, allthough the current WR is more than a second faster.. depressing huh? Andre

I've made some comparison with GPLDump and if i make no mistake i can do a 1:27:30, but as you say the WR 1 second faster ...sick ! And i don't want to think about the ring WR ! ;o) I read somewhere that changing the MS FF pedals pot improve brake precision !, so i plan to try it, hope it will help ! Andre Warringa wrote:

Talking of theRing, > maybe Wagner has something appropriate to say... Very definitely :-) In Das Rheingold Alberich acquires the gold/ring by cursing love then when it is stolen from him he places the following curse on it "As I won it through a curse, accursed be this ring! If its gold gave limitless power, now may it doom the hand on which it rests! May it delight no joyful heart, may its glimmer lighten no happy face! May he who owns it be dogged by worry and he who doesn't be gnawed at by greed! May all creatures desire its boon, but in possessing it have no joy! My its owner guard it in vain; yet be drawn by it to his doom! Condemned to perish, may terror eat up his soul: yet while he lives may he long for his death. May the ring's lord exist as its slave: until in my hand I again hold that which is stolen! -So out of profound distress the Nib'lung blesses his ring! Alberich places a powerful curse on the ring: whoever has the Ring will be its slave and is doomed, he will be envied and hated by others - everyone will covet for the Ring." I suspect that the pursuit of ever faster times and lower GPLRanks is covered by this ... good times are achieved by abandoning social life and then the immediate sense of achievement soon fades as the desire to do better takes over ... and the dedicated GPL player is doomed to an everlasting sense of failure and terror that others will go faster than them. The curse is only removed when a (demi-)god-like woman comes and takes the CD and throws it in the river (....hmmm sounds like the wife to me :-) Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
