I read in here a while back about altering the .veh files to make a more lively engine (i.e., revs go up quicker when the throttle is stomped and drop quicker when it's released) in F12000CS. I was wondering if this was possible in the original F12K as well. If so, what do you have to change? And which file, exactly? I like the game, but that's the main drawback aside from the framerates. Help? Warlock!

This applies to F12000, as well as F1CS2K (the patch works with both): If you haven't been following things over at the High Gear forums, I've finally been able to put together an "All Chassis" patch that gives a different "feel" for each chassis while allowing for AI performance that matches the out-of-the-box phyics settings (thanks go out to Clanker and Turner for their help). Now the player can select any chassis and enjoy subtly different physics performance for each chassis without compromising AI performance. This patch includes new DEFAULT.SVM, GRIP.SVM, and SPEED.SVM files which are used by the AI. Special thanks to David Mocnay for coming up with this idea in the first place. Based on David's original proposal here on RAS, the "All Chassis" patch dials in the following inertia values for roll, pitch, and yaw for the various chassis, in order to give each team its own distinct physics characteristics: - Arrows - (2000,2500,1000) - Nicest car to drive. - BAR - (1300,1700,600) - Snappy car, but probably the hardest car to drive. - Benetton - (1500,1950,650) - Average to drive and average directness. Also, snappy. - Ferrari - (1200,1600,650) - Snappy car that is awesome to drive a but nasty at the limit. - Jaguar - (1900,2300,800) - Average to drive and average directness, though not as direct as Jordan. - Jordan - (1500,1950,800) - Average to drive and average directness. - McLaren - (1250,1650,700) - Nice car to drive (not as nice as Williams though). - Minardi - (1700,2100,900) - Nice car to drive. - Prost - (1800,2200,950) - Nice car to drive. - Sauber - (1300,1700,700) - Excellent response but snappy. - Williams - (1400,1800, 800) - A really nice car to drive that is still pretty responsive. Check out the readme file for full details: http://irlinsider.adnetweb.com/sims/F1CSAllChassisPatch.zip FYI, if you want to switch easily back-and-forth between the "All Chassis" values and the original values, you can use the F1CS2K Original Chassis patch: http://irlinsider.adnetweb.com/sims/F1CS2KOriginalChassis.zip It would be nice to see the All Chassis values become an accepted "standard," for use in online and offline leagues, as well as hotlap competitions. We've now got an advanced options baseline, and I believe that Redline is going to use these values as one of the default settings in his physics utility, so all that remains is for the "standard" to be adopted and accepted by the community. Both of these work with F12K, but you will have to point the self- extractor to your F12K directory. Enjoy! -- JB F1CS2K Rank 87.003 http://f1cs2krank.dhs.org/ Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
