LCD advice needed

Will a 32-inch LCD TV work as a sim monitor?

Paulinho asked whether a 32-inch LCD TV with 18ms response time would suit sims. Replies warned about response times and its non-standard native resolution, and suggested a 19-inch monitor or CRT. Others joked about his earlier 'secret sim studio' story.

That Resolution (and LCD's only have ONE true resolution) looks a bit odd to me. I would be 100% sure your Video Card supports it properly. -Larry "Paulinho" <senninha1@(sad).btinternet.com> wrote in message news:d6ut6p$rcc$[email hidden]...

Ha ha, they work opposite my place of employment, and yes I`m talking to them, and yes I have seen more.. It`s just one of them put his finger on my lips when I saw him and he said " ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh"... I guess he figured it was me on here.. so high "Dave". I have played it a lot more since my last post, a few other cars and other tracks, one track was 95% complete, I just can`t fill in the details yet.. otherwise I may loose my sneak plays !!

I tried one and it looked very pretty. But be sure you get a high respones time 17-18ms or better. I ended up taking mine back as there was some blurring on some tracks. Ended up with a 19" falt screen CRT for half the money.
You mean a low response time, under 16ms is best for gaming, the higher the number the slower the update. I think the response is 18ms.. would that be enough.........?
I personally would be looking for a min of 16ms but for racing sims 18ms might be fine since there is no real fast screen updates needed like in a FPS or similar. "Paulinho" <senninha1@(sad).btinternet.com> wrote in message news:d700ks$cn6$[email hidden]...

My 9800pro supports 1360x768 but not 1366x768 and that is a TV not a computer monitor so it's not going to come with an .inf file to tell your vid card what resolutions to use. I would look to buying a 24" computer LCD if I was you. 32" is a bit big for near field viewing anyway.
Get the Viewsonic VX924 extreme 19" with a 4ms response time. "schooner" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:DELke.9416$9A2.7483@edtnps89...

I have the Hyundai L90D+ which has been just dandy for me. No blurring, inexpensive, DVI and Analog, tilt, hight and pivot (no pivot software though). Got it for $359 on Newegg... When I bought mine watching the price on this thing was like watching the stock market. You had to jump in and buy at the right time. This monitor was/is very popular and it's like their site slowly raises the price during periods of high purchase traffic. -Larry "tlgtr" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... >I tried one and it looked very pretty. Be that as it may, LCD's have a FIXED resolution. If the card can't drive it at it's desired resolution interpolation will kick in and it looks nasty. -Larry "Fisher" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

SH3 is the perfect example of why I stick to a CRT. The devs decided 1024X768 was good enough for all. I cant imagine running a 16x12 native LCD at 1024X768. Does it even center at that res? Then again these are the same folks that gave us the nvidia particle bug and a deaf sonarman (think about that one) ;) Mitch "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Hmple.23801$jj.8126@lakeread06... > Be that as it may, LCD's have a FIXED resolution. I hear there is some mod you can do that ups the res in SH3 but I use a CRT for gaming so I don't care, 1024x768 is my prefered res anyway. When I saw the 1.3 patch saying it was deleting these sound files at the end of the patch install I thought something strange was going on. Grrrr!

Yeah, I read that about Silent Hunter 3 and it bummed me out. I might still get it use a secondary display. As a former Navy Chief Sonar Tech I think I might get a kick out of this Game. Any good Mitch ? -Larry "Mitch_A" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:yLple.1680$[email hidden]...

Yea it is Larry. Not perfect by a long shot but playable now at something a bit less than 100% realism. The Sonar guy went deaf from 1.2 to 1.3 though and thats my single biggest gripe. Im mean really, what good is a deaf Sonar guy ;) Ive heard about a resolution hack. Subsim.com or the Silent Hunter general discussion forums should have all the info somewhere. You being a ex squid and all should really like get this one ;) I really enjoy it and if 1.4 fixes the sonar dude and the Nvidia particle bug we'll have something.
