How to change range from 270 to 180 degrees on Act Labs Force RS?

How do I change the range of movement on the Act Labs Force RS wheel? I have heard reports on increased steering precision after this modification. Im sure this is what it takes to bring my GPLRank out of the truly embarassing level. But then again - what was the range of movement on the 1967 Ferrari in real life? Thomas

well, I not sure gtx has put the modif online already so here it is (but you'll have to go to his site anyway, so print this and go there... 1 Open up the wheel (go to his site) 2 put the wheel in the "center position" 3 Looking at it in the axle of the steerring column use a pencil to draw 2 lines on the grey sitcker, you use the TOP of the paddles to draw the line. you now have the vertical place to put the bolts 4 on this line, about 2cm from the outside of the steering column (the big black plastic thing) you make your drilling points (check with the inside of the wheel to be sure nothing's on this path, on mine it worked perfectly) 5 Make sure your bolts are long enough to hold the steering block but not too long to hit the things in the back (if needed take long ones and cut them) 6 I used bolts and nuts of 10, works perfectly, it tooks me about 20 mintues total time. 7 the good news is that if you dont like it, open up the wheel, remove the bolts, you have a standard wheel again.... I don't get it. Why not just make your steering ratio that much more sensitive? I mean within your sims. You don't have to use the extra 90 degrees if you don't want to, right? Puzzled, Aubrey "Thomas Soerensen @ Work" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:958ogt$3tp$[email hidden]...

when you calibrate your wheel if you move to the full extent (270) then you wheel WANTS the maximum for you to turn... if you calbrate you wheel not to the max and in the course of the game you go OVER the max I don't know what happens...maybe your wheels go back to straight, would be funny "Aubrey" <[email hidden]> a crit dans le message news: hBXd6.3090$[email hidden]...

First, the shorter sweep packs the 1024 points of resolution into a narrower space and increases precision. This makes the biggest difference. In-game adjustments can't do this. Second, the steering is still linear. In-game adjustments aren't. They can go from non-linear to linear and sometimes to over-linear (for lack of a better word) or over-shoot on some games. It's just not the same thing. Once you have changed the sweep, though, you can still make adjustments in the game. This type of tweak won't do anything for the LWFF or Ferrari wheels that already use a 180 sweep, but it does a lot for the Force RS and probably would for the MSFF as well. -- Slot Tweaks & Reviews www.slottweak.com "Aubrey" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:hBXd6.3090$[email hidden]... > I don't get it. I had a thought last night driving home . . . As this wheel is software controlled . . . would it be possible for someone at ACT Labs to program adjustable stoppers into the wheels software? I do not see why not. Maybe I will have to email Raymond. SLG "GTX_SlotCar" <[email hidden]> wrote:

(All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers)
The stoppers have be physical, not software. I've designed a stopper that's retractable and based on 'night safety locks' on house windows. (They allow the window to open a couple inches at night, but no further.) From the side view they look like triangles with a slightly rounded bottom. From the dash, pushing them in limits the wheel arc to 180, and retracting them allows the standard movement. They'd add about 5 cents to the cost of the wheel. I've mentioned it to Act Labs, but it may have been lost in the shuffle. 'New Force RS with ASS - Adjustable Steering Sweep for Race and Cruise mode'. Hmmmm. Maybe better call it ASR for Adjustable Steering Rotation ;-) -- Slot Tweaks & Reviews www.slottweak.com "Steve Garrotto" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I had a thought last night driving home . . . > As this wheel is software controlled . . . would it be possible for > someone at ACT Labs to program adjustable stoppers into the wheels > software?
