WHY does Papyrus still insist on not allowing us to speed up wear and gas
consumption in their NASCAR games?? NASCAR Heat has it and it is great
because I can finally run a race with required pit stops without driving
forever. In NASCAR Racing 1 you could actually reduce the fuel load, but
not since....

You can speed up tire wear, just slam on them brakes some :)
Seriously though, I don't know if there is a reason why, yes I know Heat had
it in it, I personally never used it myself, I wanted real time tire wear
and fuel usuage, rather than an exagerated one. I can say I haven't seen
many people ask for it in the forums.

have you examined the track.ini file ?
track_tire_heat = 0.95
track_tire_wear = 1.12 ;> 1.0 means more
wear, i.e. 2.0 is twice normal wear, 0.5 is half normal wear
track_asphalt_grip = 0.98 ;> 1.0 means more
grip. This shouldn't have to change by more than +- 0.05
track_concrete_grip = 1.00 ;> means more grip.
Again, keep between about 0.9 and 1.05
track_north_angle = 280 ; angle of true north
in degrees

Yes ! And on of the "Beat the Heat" mission is to finish the race with very
weared tire without blowing it

I understand why some people would enjoy such thing, but I seriously never
used those options (NH, F1 sims, etc...). If I set the race for 40%, then
I'll go with realism and think my race strategy in favor of 40%, not trying
to fit a 100% race tyre wear and fuel strategy into it.
I mean it's not like it takes forever until you pit. 22gallons are pretty
fast over when your racing seriously.

So if you can adjust the tracks grip level, it's gonna be a bitch keeping
the hotlap competitions honest. Or am I missing something here?

See ya in the pits,

I have a terrible memory. In fact my memory's so bad I can't remember how
long it's been since I've forgotten anything.

Along with what the original poster was saying, if the game supported this
feature in code, then the changes would be consistent for everyone. So if a
league race had settings of 25% laps, wear adjusted to 100%, you wouldn't have
to worry about someone incorrectly setting values in the .ini file.
Rant On
Don't mind me, but I think this is a common problem in a lot of games
today. Developers should realize that not everyone has hours of uninterrupted
game time on a regular basis. I really enjoyed Diablo II, but realized ,that
for me, it was only worth playing when I had 1-2 hours of time set aside. A
quick 15-20 minute session got me nowhere. Racing is a little different,
because you can always practice 10-20 laps, but it would be nice to be able to
compress a race down to an hour or so, and still require fuel and tire
management.
