My FORCE RS seems EXTREMLY loose with NASCAR 4, I can barely drive it. Anybody else got a Force RS and use it with NASCAR 4??

I've got the same problem. The steering ratio is set to be the "slowest" is can be at 32:1 but my car is very twitchy. This causes me to weave all over the road. On Sat, 10 Feb 2001 02:57:41 GMT, "TAZ" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I emailed ACTLAB with the problem, see what they say........... "skeeter" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I don't see it being an Act Labs problem because I've used the wheel with N3 and NH with no problems. But then again who knows. On the N4 calibration page, it shows that we've got 1024 increments from left lock to right lock. If anything our wheels ought to be easier to drive because it sounds like most wheels on only turn 180 degrees compared to about 270 for Act Labs. This would mean for each degree of wheel turn Act Labs would cover about 3.8 "increments" whereas the other wheels woul cover 5.9 "increments". This tells me that other peoples ought to be twitchier than our are. On Sat, 10 Feb 2001 04:05:27 GMT, "TAZ" <[email hidden]> wrote:

It's the opposite...you have to turn your wheel more to get one "tick" of resolution. I have complained already about the Ferrari wheel having only 1024 ticks of resolution....the greater lock on your wheel just makes it worse. They should both be double that...especially considering the Ferrari has 1024 resolution on the accelerator! Marc. "skeeter" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

You are correct and that is what I tried to imply in my posting. Since the Act Labs should only do 3.8 "ticks" per degree of turn (assuming 270 degrees lock to lock) as opposed to 5.9 "ticks" (assuming 180 degrees lock to lock). To me that says that my wheel ought to be more forgiving and need more input to cause the same amount of turning. That's why I'm baffled as to why the wheel is so twitchy to drive. I haven't tried it yet but thought I'd let you know about what I was told on the team-lightspeed.com site. They suggested that the linear adjustment needs to be fiddled with. I'll try it a bit later to see if that helps. On Sat, 10 Feb 2001 04:05:27 GMT, "TAZ" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Set the steering ratio in the garage to either extreme and compare. If you have a wheel, you should be using linear (or almost all the way to linear). Also, make sure you use the steering hack option mentioned in the readme.txt. The "normal" settings are frustrating and twitchy at low speeds. Marc. I was wrong on the number of "increments" that the wheel has during calibration. It's actually 4096, not 1024. On Sat, 10 Feb 2001 04:27:52 GMT, [email hidden] (skeeter) wrote:

Well, I tried adjusting the linearity. I still don't like the way it drives. By adjusting the linearity less than 100% it makes the steering less sensitive while the wheel is in the center of it's arc. But while turning into a corner the wheel starts to get more sensitive again due to the way the non-linearity behaves. Yuck. It seems to me that it would be much simpler to provide a larger range of steering ratios so that the driver could select the setting he likes while allowing the wheel to be 100% linear. I don't think Papy did a very good job on this point. So far I've not gotten much of a chance to try out N4 to decide if it is better or worse than NH. Maybe I'll be able to play more later if a patch comes out to address this problem. On Sat, 10 Feb 2001 17:20:45 GMT, [email hidden] (skeeter) wrote:
