I have been reading your posts and it sems as if PAPY has done it again iwth their arrogant display and released something to the general public that either will require a substantial upgrade on their system, or perhaps has some major bugs in its first release. I went through this crap with the "disconect tango" and the "warp waltz" several years ago when GPL came out, and although I DO rate GPL as the best sim EVER to be realeased, it quickly was uninstalled from my hard drive in remains in the box where it will stay FOREVER! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH PAPY is supposed to be a professional organization with the money and resources to check and recheck for all the problems BEFORE the SIMS hit the shelves to the consumers. Customer satisfaction is the key here. I am darned tired of going back and installing patch after patch, then finding that some OTHER part of the sim doesn't work because of the patch it just installed deemed the segment unworkable! This is rediculous, they are a better company than this, for sure. For now, I WILL NOT PURCHASE NASCAR 4 I WILL MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF ITS DEVELOPMENT -- I DON"T NEED THE DAMNED THING IF IT HAS THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS RIGHT OFF THE BAT AND NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE PAPY SHOULD KNOW THIS BY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah screw papy for making a game that is an advance in graphics and physics...why should you ever have to buy a new computer? Your old computer should be able to run ANYTHING! Why can't they make a racing sim with crappy graphics so it will work on slow computers? </sarcasm> On a serious note, I would like to know the bugs (you only mentioned bugs from GPL) you are experiencing...I havn't really paid much attention to the N4 posts lately so I havn't seen what terrible flaws it may have. Your reading the wrong post. This is the best game and most "finished" game I have ever bought. You are really missing out by sticking with N3. -- Kevin Anderson [email hidden] <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I have been reading your posts and it sems as if PAPY has done it > again iwth their arrogant display and released something to the > general public that either will require a substantial upgrade on their > system, or perhaps has some major bugs in its first release. > > I went through this crap with the "disconect tango" and the "warp > waltz" several years ago when GPL came out, and although I DO rate GPL > as the best sim EVER to be realeased, it quickly was uninstalled from > my hard drive in remains in the box where it will stay FOREVER! > > ENOUGH IS ENOUGH > > PAPY is supposed to be a professional organization with the money and > resources to check and recheck for all the problems BEFORE the SIMS > hit the shelves to the consumers. > > Customer satisfaction is the key here. My main concern is physics. N4 has it. GPL has it. NASCAR Heat and Viper Racing has it. N3 just doesn't do it for me despite all those wonderful short tracks! If N4 had some more short tracks and somewhat crisper graphics it'd be perfect (well, it'd be good enough, until a patch is released ;). -- ------------------------------------- Morgan Vincent Wooten GPLRank: +10.02 http://home.earthlink.net/~morganv00/ ------------------------------------- <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... Perhaps MEEEEEEE!!!! What the frick good is a game if it won't run. Does Papy seriously think I'm going to toss out a CD-ROM drive and buy a new one just to get a $49.00 game to run??? (Don't gimme NOCRAP in E-mail)
I'm sure papy is going to miss your money......NOT! Have fun racing with yourself in N3 because in another month you will be one of the very few who still drive it(maybe the only one). Vintook <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

This is the same ole crap we all heard when GPL came out. "It's un-driveable, it requires to much computer, blah blah blah". A few months later most of the whiners were quietly racing in GPL bliss. I'm a customer, and I am VERY, VERY satisfied with N4. No software product has been, is, or ever will be perfect. -Larry <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Yeah, the N3 Arena's are going to start looking like the Legends Arena's. Speaking of which, I bet we DON'T see a Legends version of N4 :) -Larry "Vintook" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:_aeh6.4645$[email hidden]... > I'm sure papy is going to miss your money......NOT! This is a game. I would love to see it top quality with no bugs. On the flip side, I don't expect that, especially from a game. These days you can't even expect it from a consumer applications on which you depend in your business, although you should be able to. The market is in such a rush to get new products, new features, new version etc. etc. that the release of not quite ready software is common-place. As for the hardware requirement, I understand your frustration. Racing sims are certainly an example of games that basically don't run 100% on any hardware platform available at time they are released. I have a 1.1ghz machine that is a about 3 weeks old with the faster consumer market video card on the market (with a $400 price tag) and I still am fighting with driver installs, tweaks and probably eventually some over-clocking to squeeze out a little more. But, the reason for buying such hardware is to use it, right? Being a programmer, I always wonder if the most efficient algorythms were used and whether my processor is just wasting time executing silly code. However, there is no question that this game provides lost of animation and a lot of computation. You can choose to stay with the older stuff. It is your choice. Upgrades, both hardware and software are very time consuming and frustrating. Now, can someone tell which VIA AGP driver I need to stop Windows 2000 from freeking out-). /TomH
Tom, I believe version 4.28(v)a was just released. Check www.viahardware.com. They SAY this specific version is officially sanctioned and approved by VIA. The VIA web site still shows 4.25a. The 4.26-4.28 beta versions were a nightmare for me under Win2K. I'm sure this is more info that you wanted, and probably doesn't help clear any confusion. Sorry :) -Larry "Tom Hansen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:1Ukh6.14708$[email hidden]...

And they make the finest racing sims on the market - i'll buy any future racing release from them - provided I have the hardware to match :-) Some people don't, I guess, understand just how complex a racing sim is to develop and program, and the implications of this for the PC market which is so diverse in terms of hardware setup (I have a Celeron 333 overclocked to about 500 with 98Mb of RAM and a V2 12Mb 3d card) I don't expect developers to be wasting time developing games that will run on my platform, just because I can't afford to upgrade yet - I expect them to keep pushing the edge. And if that means I can't play some of the games i'd love to (N4, for example) then i'll just live with that, and not blame the develepor my lack of hardware power. DG
