So far Big Bill Elliot is on the pole for the 500 with a second Dodge in the
top six. Neither of these cars had ever gone within .3 of todays times,
according to Darrell Waltrip.
Can anyone spell SNOOKERED! <G>
I love NASCAR
Mike
By now, everyone knows Elliot's on the pole (I'm very happy for him, I'd
like to see him do well this season). Afterwards, in an interview, the
trackside commentator pointed out that neither the 9 or 19 car were close to
today's qualifying times in practice. Elliot responded that they switched
to a 'qualifying' engine for today's qualifying runs. So for Daytona, it a
pair of Dodge's up front, with Dodge taking the first step towards living up
to the hype. Oh, and what happened to Jerry Nadeau? Was it car height that
DQ'd his time? I didn't catch the whole story.

An unapproved shock made one corner of the car too low.
