I blew 1st gear coming out of the pits (slap it in gear and it will
happen!)...makes the restarts rough.
And while avoiding a wreck on the trioval at Daytona, I ran over some debris
and blew a tire.
N4 is great (on a big computer)!!!

I just lost 3rd gear at Dover. Now that makes for a tuff restart.

realistic?

Blowing a gear is a result of abusing it usually through shifting, and can
occur whether random damage is on or off, just like blowing an engine.
Don't abuse your car folks, it can come back to haunt you :).

I pitted too close to the wall and they said "too close, can't change your
left side tires".
Also, jackman dropped the jack, the said, "uh oh, there is a problem with
the jack." It cost me about 3 seconds.

Yep, calling it random breakdowns isn't really a good way of calling it.
The breakdowns are caused by driver error/setup error. I have a hard
time making a qual lap at the Glen as I have the gearing setup
aggressively to get all the power out of the engine. Just sometimes I
get more then power out of it but the rods themselves. :) Blowing a gear
out of the box is scary if you have the sound up loud. :) you get a
terrible grinding noise and the revs jump way up.
Or during qualifying I may miss a shift and peg the limiter, then I'm
just holding on for the rest of the lap and hoping the engine doesn't
blow up. The qual engines can be real grenades but the race engines can
take a little bit more abuse, but not much.

After a couple cars hit the wall at Daytona, I ran through a patch of what I
assume was oil laying on the track. Didn't have any effect on me because I
was going straight and coasting, but I wonder what effect it will have in
the corner at Rockingham ;-)
