I guess I've never noticed before but what is the Trim setting used
for on the Garage screen on Nascar Heat? BTW, I've got the Hardcore
mode set.

It lets you trim out the pull to the right that some of us don't like.
I only wish N4 had it...
It's tolerable in N4 IF you have a FF wheel and you are running FF. If you
have a non-FF bungied wheel or are running a FF wheel with FF disabled, then
it will make racing unbearable.

So far I find driving N4 unbearable. With the limited about of
steering "ratios" available, my Force RS is too twitchy at even the
slowest ration setting. I want to drive with 100% linearity and won't
do it at any other lesser setting. Maybe I'm being stubborn but I
don't like it if the wheel response isn't linear. If Papy would just
remove the restrictions on the steering ratio, I think it would be
fine.

like GPL. So to slow down the steering, you increase the ratio. In N3 you
lowered it. Hope that helps...a 32:1 ratio is often used on the N4
superspeedways...this would make an N3 car so twitchy you'd have an
epileptic seizure.

know that I did not have a problem with it. But in response to your
question, yes, I have the steering in N4 set to 32:1. Unfortunately,
that doesn't help the twitchy feeling. I'm afraid that until (unless?)
Papyrus changes N4 to allow larger ratio, I won't enjoy the game.
I've also noticed posts on other forums that I'm not the only one with
the complaint.
I'm glad to hear that most of the rest of the folks out there are
having a good time with it. I just wish I could to and join in on some
of the online racing. (After working on my lousy setup skills ;) )

IMHO, they need to increase that to 40.
The setting of 32 still leaves the car too twitchy at Dega and Daytona to
suit me.
Anyone know if you can over-ride this somewhere ?
Non-Linear is NOT the answer.

I would simply
remove the check that limits the ratio at 32:1. If I like 250:1 and
you like 40:1, the answer should be "Great, no problem. Change it to
whatever you want". The reason that the steering ratio shouldn't be an
issue is that doesn't give any one driver a mechanical or aerodynamic
advantage in a race.

Absolute Agreement.
The decision on whether to allow this change in fixed setups was bounced
around forever during the Hawaii days until it was decided to leave it open.
That was the proper decision...
