GPL--does AI get better as I improve?

I seem to remember reading something like this. My first try at glacier, I ran something like 2:02 or 2:05 and qualified 6th. After a few days of trying, I ran 1:56 and qualified 11th.

Isn't that the AI hyping something? In one of the .ini files you can turn it on or off, so it won't look at how good (or bad ;-) you yourself are doing on a track. You can also use one of the GPL AI tweak programs to make all slower or faster, individually slower or faster or just constantly the same etc. but I forget the name of the Gpl util?? Sorry.. Thom_j. Well, my player.sts file is read-only, so the AI stays at the speed they were when I bought the game. But even so, they seem to run so much faster than on others' systems...
