Now that Nascar 4 is out, I was wondering what the next major Sim Racing
release is, in anybodys opinion. I know that WSC is supposed to be major, but
is anything special due out before that game finally gets released. Also, there
must be some other great Sim due out after WSC finally makes its debut, has
anyone heard of any rumours, or is WSC the be all end all sim for the next few
years.
Upcoming racing sims expected after NASCAR 4
A user asked what the next big racing sim would be after NASCAR Racing 4. Posters listed World Sports Cars, F1 Racing Championship, F1 2001, Leadfoot, Skip Barber Racing, Gran Turismo 3 and Bugbear's Historic Rally Trophy, with a Bugbear developer vouching for its physics. Some doubted WSC's release date and noted Skip Barber had been delayed.

"Next," given the difficulties that can arise in
software development, is a bit hard to pin down.
<g>
I am personally looking forward to Leadfoot (Q2),
Paris-Dakar (Q2), Master Rallye (Q3) and Historic
Rally Trophy (Q4).
And WSC whenever it finally ships.

I'm sure EA has F12001 in the works. Apart from that and WSC I can't
think of anything else I'm really interested in getting.
F1RC from ubi or eidos I can't keep those companies separate in my
head. Gorgeous graphics...I'm a little leary of the demo but it should
be interesting....I'm not sure there will be a F1 2001 since I seem to
recall
John Bodin or somebody saying the team is starting now from a completely
fresh sheet of paper....F12k was, after all, an upgraded scgt in many
respects.
they may need more than 6 months to get their next product out the door.
Leadfoot the Stadium off-road sim should be buckets o fun.

From http://www.imagespaceinc.com/final/ISInews.htm :
Image Space Inc. has its sites set on the F1 2001 season. Along with EA
sports Image Space will push the already smash hit F1 2000, into the next
season with better features and a more advanced AI and driver components.
Looks like there's going to be a F12001, but that note has been on their

True about your first sentence. I doubt it can equal N4 or GPL, still.
Perhaps the best modern F1 sim, but I don't expect anything else of what I
saw.
About the only "major" released in 2001 are N4, WSC, F1RC and Leadfoot imho.
Every other title is a "minor" simracing release with very small ammount of
current information and PR marketing, yet are titles that could perhaps be a
surprise hits like MBTR was in 2000.

I very much suspect the game will turn out to be just a graphics demo with no
simulational content at all. Three of the introduction text's four
chapters rant about the "state-of-the-art 3D engine", whereas the physical
modelling is only mentioned in one tiny subordinate clause.

F12k and especially F1CS with the chassis patch gave me a much better
feeling of racing in an F1 car.
And I'm looking forward to F1RC, I love the demo.

I know that alot of people in this newsgroup pretty much dismiss all future

Just have to answer this..
TRUST ME, the physics modeling is gorgeously made. Watching the car
trundle across a ditch/rough terrain/whatever looks and feels very
realistic and natural concerning the chassis action. Hard landings from
jumps makes you gringe from empathy towards the car.
Sorry, can't tell any details, no matter how much I'd wish to. Publisher

I think it looks great. Not every sim coming out has to have accurate
handling. Sometimes it's fun just to take a drive in the countryside and
look at beautiful scenery. Fast, gorgeous graphics go a long way to the
enjoyment, and good online play brings even more. The added realistic
physics model is a plus.
So, what's the expected release date?

I'm with you. Skip Barber and WSC are probably the only two racing titles I'll get
this year. Hopefully Ratbag will do some asphalt stock/modifieds and then the stock
car career 'ladder' will be developed. Oh, add the paved sprints as well (for the
USAC fans...). Then a F3 / F3000 label and the open wheel ladder will be complete as
well.

I'm sure you are right about some. I bought a PSX for GT (and then GT2) and
consider it well worth it for that. But I'm not too sure about GT3 and the
PS2. From all I've read, GT3 seems to be a graphics update (great!), but less
cars, less tracks, and (as far as I've read) no addressing the aspects that I
think could be improved with a more powerful console: better AI, more AI cars,
a dash. Meanwhile, I'll play F355 Ferrari Challenge on my ($80) Dreamcast.
Pack to PC's...
So, it's official that Skip Barber Racing is canned?

Ah, maybe you should change that to "pencilled in" so that they can set the

I have this horrible itch of comparing the graphics to the latest big
