Has anyone else noticed a problem with this? I was running a race a
Daytona today and the car started pushing real bad around lap 15-18. I
managed to hang on by driving real smooth for awhile but to my
amazement my tire's were in the red around lap 27. By lap 32 I could
no longer hold on. I went to pit but blew the right front as I was
braking for pit lane. I was using the fast setup that came with the
game. I watched the race from the leader at that point because I
couldn't believe that I had wasted the tires that quick. I wanted to
see what I was doing wrong. The leaders started pitting around lap 52
- 54. How can they make it that much longer? I checked the track_tire
wear line in the track.ini file and to my amazement it was set to
4.5!!!! This does not seem right. I tried different settings with
different results but I am not sure what is the most realistic. What
is everyone else out there using? I don't want to cheat, just want
realism. Is it just me? Do I suck that bad? I can't see that you can
squeeze another 20 laps out of your tires especially at a place like
Daytona. Do I need to change the tire heat settings, grip?????
I can drive the Fast Setup around Daytona until my fuel runs out normally.
There are alot of things that come into play with Tire Wear. Temperature,
wind, drafting.. and just overall driving style. Maybe you are turning the
wheel too hard to the left as you enter the turn and are scrubbing the
tires.. shrug, hard to say without watching you drive or being there.
The fast setup is a very shaky setup at Daytona.. it is hard to keep on the
bottom of the track. If you are forcing it to stay on the bottom of the
track, you are probably wearing down your tires more than you should.
Try stabalizing the setup so that you do not have to force it to stay on the
bottom, but so that it wants to stay there. You will then get better tire
wear.
N4 is VERY realistic when it comes to these things. You now actually have
to work with setups like the Big Boys do in Nascar to get the car to handle
the way you want.

Do I need to change the tire heat settings, grip?????Agreed, this seems very realistic. If your setup isn't right, or if you are
running a line that is hard on the tires you really wear the tires out and the
handle really goes fast. On many Sundays we've seen cars drop speed midway into
a fuel run for this same season.

Do I need to change the tire heat settings, grip????? At Daytona Rusty blew his tire just before the first round of
pitstops...Waltrip said he had a history of too much camber and not enough
air pressure.
Isn't it amazing....with gpl it was EVERYONE wanting to EDIT the grip
levels.
and now with N4, rather than fix a setup or learn how the tire is affected,
or even dloading other setups...we have many users that want to EDIT the
track file rather than compete.
That's not a personal flame, just a general observation.

Did you watch the Daytona 500? That's not too far removed from the point
where Rusty Wallace blew his right front, if memory serves. Setups on most
tracks are a tradeoff. Lots of setups that let you take the turns like a
dream eat the hell out of your rubber just like you describe, both in real
life and in the sim.

What line are you taking (low, mid, high) on average, and did you make
any adjustments to the "FAST" setup?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Not when your running consistent low 46s at 102% you cant
