bollocks!! You know, it really annoys me when I've got an hour into a GPL race against the AI and I puncture a tire. Ehhhhhhh, game over. THEN I go and watch Legends of Motorsports on Speedvision and watch half the '67 field coming into the pits for tires, adjustments, repairs, and yes, even the odd splash and go. No pit stops or refueling my eye. KFG
Ah ha, that I didn't know. I just remember it prompting me to save each time I left after a rpactice session. Nick Greatdane wrote: > Yes there is a save game function, but you can't save in race and resume > later. Only between sessions.

I would be OK with a save function that only operated from your pit stall. It may be a lot easier to program and it would sure be a lot easier to re-join the race :) Marc. "18pACK" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:F5Pm6.775$[email hidden]...

If you are saying that it probably didn't cost them money to omit this feature, I would agree with you (despite the existence of a fair number of people who obviously want such a feature). However, if Papy are attempting to remain at the leading edge of the the racing sim genre, the omission is a bit more questionable. It's the difference between excelling and making satisfactory compromises. I find it hard to overlook a certain amount of bias in your defense of their position. It's not so much that I would EXPECT a "save game" feature in N4, but that still doesn't make it any less disappointing that it isn't there. Ryan
GPL never had a savegame and now N4 is the same as GPL. It seems to me that the reason is that it would be very difficult to almost impossible to implement this feature due to the complexity of the game. Then again I could be completely wrong since you can pause the game and restart it, you would think that just saving everything in the pause mode would accomplish this. Nascar Heat has no save. GPL has no save. N4 has no save. These are very complex sims done by two and maybe three separate teams. Yet none have an in-race save game feature. Is it because all the programmers feel saving is bad?(in that case there would be no arcade-F10-Kite view) or is it because a sim with the kind of complexity that the above have makes it very difficult to create a workable save function. Perhaps it is just a matter of room. How big would the file be? 42 cars times X amout of bytes... i know N99 and the others had a race save option...but really....are any of the previous nascar titles even close to the current generation? dave henrie "Marc Collins" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:SJWm6.331116$[email hidden]... > I would be OK with a save function that only operated from your pit stall. > It may be a lot easier to program and it would sure be a lot easier to > re-join the race :) > > Marc. >... > > I find it a big-time letdown that there is no save-game feature in N4 as > > well as NH... > > >
I have to believe it would be a fairly time consuming issue, and it all comes down to getting as much as they can into the sim in the time allotted to do it. -- Don Burnette D Burnette in N4 Some people do nothing wrong. The problem is, they do nothing. And THAT is wrong. "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:XIgn6.486609$[email hidden]... > Nascar Heat has no save. GPL has no save. N4 has no save. It's definitely do-able. I think the reason there's no save-game is because Papy didn't want one, and almost definitely still don't. All I can suggest is the pause button :) "18pACK" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:F5Pm6.775$[email hidden]...

If I'm not playing online who cares if I go back and reload a dozen times?
