Hi, I'm about to buy the MS Sidewinder Precision wheel from www.dabs.com and
just wanted to check I'd be able to bolt it to my desk. My ASCII art ain't
brilliant, so I found this picture to aid in explanation...
http://www.lionmetal.co.id/images/lion%20106n.jpg
See the horizontal bar supporting the underside of the desktop, above where
your knees would be? That's what I've got on my desk, and I don't know if
the clamp will get round it or not. My tabletop is 25 mm thick, the
troublesome horizontal bar starts 38 mm back from the front edge and
measures 50 mm vertically and 18 mm front-to-back.
Hope that makes some sense, thanks in advance for helping me with a weird
question! :)
Jim
PS: I'm under the impression that this wheel is one of those that allows use
of brakes and throttle at the same time (don't know the technical term,
sorry). This is right, right?

Hi Jim
I've just measured my MSFF wheel and I think you should be OK. The wheel
would probably clamp either side of the bar
The term is split axis and it does.

SPRW, if your bar is more than 2" it probably won't fit.
My desk use to have a bar there too. I removed it. And moved the bar
to farther back. If your desk is sturdy enough, just remove it
altogether.
Yes the MS SPRW does support dual/split axis, so you can brake and gas
at the same time.

Thanks for your help folks, I've gone ahead and ordered it now. The reason I
was asking is that it's my landlord's desk and I don't think he'd be too
happy if I chopped it around with a saw - it's old but unfortunately more
old-as-in-good rather than old-as-in-tatty :0)
