Standings points remain the same, except for DNFs:
All DNFs receive 50 pts regardless of when they DNFed
5 points for leading green laps
NO points for leading yellow laps
5 points for leading the most laps
5 points for pole position
-5 for track infractions (speeding on pitrow, rough driving, etc)
No time penalty
-ALL points for off track infractions (illegal equipment, etc)
No BONUS points for lapped cars. Led a lap, got lapped lose your 5
points.
that's what I think.

I don't agree with the no time penalty. There are alot of drivers that don't
run for the points and that would just let them do whatever they wanted.
Also the no points for leading a lap then getting lapped is dumb. Leaders start
pitting and one of the cars that never runs up front catches a caution and puts
the good cars a lap down. That would not be fair to the front runners. There
should be points deducted for infractions but not all there points. They
already get 5 points for leading the most laps.

Thats the way we run our league, NASCAR scoring + 5 points for the pole.
This give a max bonus for any one person of 15 for entire race.(5 for
leading 1 lap + 5 for leading most laps + 5 for pole)
In our league we penalize laps (instead of points) for other infractions
aside from the ones that N4 now catches (pit road entry/exit and speeding,
passing on left on restart, etc) like say someone beats everyone up to get
to the front (aggressive driving), then after replay consult, we dock the
guy a lap. This tends to put them back where they should have been and
encourages clean driving. NASCAR doesn't really want clean driving all the
time or I bet they'd have similar rules...just a thought.

I like the point bonus for pole position. And on a related note, I really
think that F1 should go back to some point bonus for pole and also for fast
lap.

for pole position. I would vote against the other suggestions for various
reasons. To elaborate on my thoughts on the pole points, I think it places
to much advantage on teams that have funding for entirely separate
qualifying engines, etc. I personally would like to see points awarded to
pole sitters, but I am also concerned that it would reward teams with the
biggest pocketbooks running entirely different qualifying engines and
setups. I also think that sitting on the pole increases odds of getting
lead lap points, so maybe that's enough of an advantage/reward.

Excellent points to consider. I also think that Qualifying engines
should be abolished as they make NASCAR even more cost prohibitive
than it already is. I thin kthey should have to run race set ups and
LIKE F1 they should have to run their Q tires as well.

In my opinion, yellow flag laps should not even be counted, period. They
shouldn't be counted in any form of racing. It should be like hockey
where when the whistle blows the clock stops. So in the case of racing
when the yellow drops the laps stop counting.

have to
start at Sunup to insure they finish before Dark.

Good ideas, all! I would add another one to that list, however..
25 extra points for winning the race!
This way you see a real RACE, and not this gathering up points for
"also ran" status!

Agreed! I think they should have to qualify with the race setup and
not be allowed to change anything after qualifying, till the first pit

already go on for 4+ hours, but I'd like to see a rule saying that it
has to end under green! If it finishes with Green-White-Checker,
that's fine by me, but under yellow?????
