Just prior to that DW had called them both "leaky faucets" <g> so I could
guess it was "leaky" upside down/horizontal, but dam if I can read
DW-hieroglyphics. Those guys are kinda growing on me as they get more
comfortable together. I miss ESPN coverage though.

Hi all;
During the race yesterday, the camera cut to the two colour commentary guys
for a comment about something and Darryl Waltrip wrote something over top of
one (a former crew chief??) as a joke - the guy looked really pissed! You
know - using the wax pencil thingy for the screen??
I was laughing so hard I didn't actually notice what Darryl wrote - anyone
catch it??
Willard.
I wish someone cut the wire to DW's mic. I find him annoying

Amen. As a matter of fact, I find the entire FOX commentary crew to
be extremely silly and unprofessional, with the exception of Larry
McReynolds. Darrell Waltrip comes off as a complete moron, and IMO is
an embarrassment to NASCAR fans like myself, when I think of new
potential NASCAR fans watching stock car racing for the first time.
If I had my way, Id fire everyone except Larry McReynolds and see if
Benny Parsons and Ned Jarrett would come on board.
Ben
IMHO, he brings some character to the mix that was missing in the last few
years...

I like Eli where he's at. He looks like my uncle and talks way too
much. I like *some* of DW's insights and his humor. I would like to have
Benny back as well as Dr Punch. Weber would be a definite gain. That chick on
pit road needs a new job though. Sometimes she asks some of the stupidest
questions.
Amy East at least was proficient with racing. I think "Hollywood" Hammond
likes his hotel and he does a good job there. The network geek he's paired
with just doesn't have a strong grasp of the sport. To me he comes off as a
network suit in a bluejean sport.
Come to think of it, I think a second ex-driver should be paired with the
crew. Two drivers, two crewchiefs. Each set picks a horse and tries to guide
it to victory lane. Ernie Irvan would be a my choice. I think him and Hammond
would be a dour twosome to put up against two flambouyant headliners. If Ernie
doesn't want it, Parsons would be a serious consideration. Except he's already
under contract. (NBC if memory servers.)
Ned's not coming out of retirement. If Big Bill France couldn't get him to get
back in a car, you're not going to see him in the booth. I have a feeling he's
enjoying the idea of being a grandfather and 'puttering' around with some other
stuff.

have
bemoaned the fact that Poor Earnhardt Jr. got a flat near the end of the
Atlanta race..
Even as he slowed and everyone saw his chances disappear, DW stated
something
close to this..: 'he drove that tire off' meaning it wasn't fate or cruel
luck that struck
Jr...just that to stay with the leaders he was having to push his right
front tire
too much and it failed him. Not 'Aw shucks, can you believe his luck?'
