Congrats to A. Bjxrnstad!
It was a boring race in the middle of the pack, there seemed to be a LOT of
engine problems. 16 cars started, 3 finished.

Results of a full-length GPL Monza Grand Prix
Eldred posted results of a full-length Grand Prix Legends race at Monza that he hosted, won by Asbjorn Bjornstad with only three of 16 starters finishing. Participants shared race stories, and plans were floated for a GPL race at Indianapolis on the morning of the 2001 Indy 500.

Automated summary.
Splendid racing though from my point of view. Started from back of
pack, avoiding the initial few incidents in the first 1/2 dozen laps and went
on to get as high as 2nd before my engine melted a piston 6 miserable laps
from the end (sniff). Still not a bad run for a Honda. Noticed there was
this Pickett guy that was starting to overhaul me quite rapidly towards the
end. Oddly enough he claims to be slow! While I certainly wouldn't call the
gentleman a sandbagger I think (with apologies to the Bard) that the racer
doth protest too much. :) Nice run Eldred, I think you would have caught me
anyway even without my engine trouble. Congrats to A. Bjxrnstad and RMS too
for making it all the way.

'claim'
to be amoung the turtles of the GPL world. but now, even as he rose as a

of the slow and downtrodden, he has moved beyond us mere sub-humans. He has

to be counted

You really were going well (though Eldred was catching you... way to go
Eldred!!). In the early laps it was comforting to know it was you in the
mirrors (better the devil you know <g>). Was a pleasure watching you apply
your smooth style as you made your way up through the field after you passed
(and I crashed out).
Too bad I made that silly mistake out of Ascari and your enigne blew,
otherwise it would have been two MARiAns in the top 5. ;-)

I must admit that I didn't realize that it was a full length GP until
about 3 minutes before the start. So I just filled up the qualify-like
setup with fuel. I wasn't sure how much fuel I would need, and the
famed reliability of the Lotus wasn't to assuring either. I short-shifted
most of the race.
After Warringas crash, it was lonely in the lead, and I was lucky to
finish. Twice I scraped paint of the armoco in lesmo, and twice I
entered the sand outside Parabolica, once almost getting stuck in the
hedge.
And my chair which doesn't seem too bad in pro short races was giving
me some pain...
My first full length GPL race, and I'm already addicted. When's the
next race? :-)

I got knocked out in turn one by some moron who went on to blow his engine
after one lap! If you can't keep your car together for more than one lap why
are you joining a full length race? Just to ruin my day, I guess.

Ah, but the first one is free. Then you have to pay Eldred $10 per race. ;-)

But just for the record, when is it?
And something completely different:
In 5 EGPs there have been 5 different winners, 20 people in the points,
and only 2 winners have scored points in other races...
Based on modern F1 points and disregarding the 80% rule, the top drivers
are:
1) Jan Vershueren - 26 (Slow but sure)
2) Eldred Pickett - 16 (Win is surely in the cards)
3) Andr Warringa - 12 (Mr. Speed)
4) Carlo Kleijngeld - 10 (One hit wonder)
4) Asbjrn Bjrnstad - 10 (One hit wonder)
4) Jens Kruuse - 10 (One hit wonder)
7) Roger Squires - 7 (Three top 6 finishes!)
8) Don McCorkle - 6 (R. Schumacher clone)
8) Jari Paavola - 6

Looks like neither of us got enough IMS this past week. I was just
lamenting how far off the next Indy race is for our league. I havent watched a
full 500 from start to finish in many years, so driving GPL during this years race
is a great idea. Any way to figure out how to get the full 500? Maybe someone
knows a secret hack.. This series is perfect for me cause i love the mix of ovals
and road courses. I have been waiting to get into Nascar4 till a patch comes out
and most of the newbies can get decent. Now i'm under the impression that GPL oval
racing may be better than N4. Anyway, please count me in for the race if you host
it.

Wouldn't have helped me, I was just looking for a quick monza sprint
(Hence the Lotus, which I normally don't drive even for short races.)
If the next race is Mexico I don't think it will be an issue.

Hmm, I can understand why you want it to, but it would have prevented
me to participate in this weekends race, so I can't say I'm too
thrilled. :-)
From what I saw everybody was careful at the start, but there may have
been more going on further back.

I would go with a special chat room and discuss the password in there

another computer to setup as a server so we could maybe have a
dedicated full GP server. Wish I would have had time to join you this

Dedicated server? As in one that loops GP races, or as one that we can use
anytime we want? If it's the former, I don't think people would run them on a
