Spa in GPL described as better than sex

Disgruntled Goat raved about the exhilaration of driving Spa in Grand Prix Legends. Replies mostly joked about the subject line and his love life, while others named their own favourite GPL tracks such as the Nurburgring.

Why has it taken me so long to have a serious crack at this track? Everything about it is brilliant. Exhiliratingly fast, with some of the toughest turns you are likely to find (a centimetre wide or a km/h too fast into Masta, and you WILL crash). Spa definately brings about the highest incidence, in me, of "Simmer's Grin" (that stupid looking grin you get on your face when you are driving right on the limit but feel totally, absolutely in control - until you miss the braking for Malmedy, turn the wheel a little too much through Stavelot - or of course miss the entrance to Masta by a foot in any direction) of any of the tracks I am good enough at to 'know'. Nailing Eau Rouge takes simmer's grin to entirely new levels - maybe simmer's glow? I think it's my favourite track to race on, as well as to drive. I like starting a novice or Intermediate race with 10 cars (all my PC can handle), jumping in the Eagle and starting from the back Get past 2 or 3 in the descent to Eau Rouge and if you are lucky, another 1 or 2 through it, catch up and pass another 1 or 2 throgh on the outside of La Copse (Doug Arnao's setup really lets you have it floored all the way through, provided you got the braking reasonbly right), then stick to the back of the leading pack down through Burnenville, getting a tow off them on the long, fast straight after Malmedy and using the slipstream to goddamn BLAST past them, hopefully with enough room and time to hit Masta just right - then your having some fun. Oh, and that last turn before La Source is so much fun when you get it right, the rear end hanging right out there - the tough part is remembering to slow down for the 180 hairpin. Just a few thoughts cuz i'm bored. Think i'll go race Spa... DG

Hmmm... regarding the thread title, I have to wonder; with you negotiating all the kinks at Spa, somewhere along the line, have you perhaps neglected the importance of being kinky in the real world? ;) -Gregor

Don't know about being 'better than sex', but Spa was (is) always my favourite experience in GPL - very satisfying when you get it right! A real blast! Iain "Disgruntled Goat" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Sorry but there's no question which is the more exciting and fulfilling track. Fast straights, dropping sweepers, banked turns, tight hairpins, whole sections that have you gritting your teeth and growling, and jumps! The only track in the game with jumps! I rest my case. Spa is a yawner in comparison. rms [email hidden]
Yeh, but a lap at Spa lasts longer :-) > >Your subject line was EXACTLY what I thought during my first session atSpa. > >GPL is amazing. > > Spa is superb, but better than sex.. I think you should work some more > on your sexlife :) > > Andre

Sorry, Roger, but you are wrong about the jumps! I can vividly recall doing jumps on all the tracks. For instance, Zandvoort has gotten me airborne several times. Rarely on a good lap, though... ;-) And as for Spa being better than sex, Goat? Hahahahaha....! Right, and you've never heard of a politician who lied. Maybe you should try it with a partner? Ze Ring rules supreme. She is a harsh mistress, punishing insensitivity, inconsideration, and careless aggression. Treat her like the lady she is, and she will reward you with bliss. /Jens Roger Squires wrote:

Spa is great indeed, certainly my favorite as well - but - methinks you might be carrying it a little too far stating it's better than sex - either that , or you need a brake from sim racing every now and then :) -- Don Burnette D Burnette in N4 Some people do nothing wrong. The problem is, they do nothing. And THAT is wrong. Sex is....well...sex....10points GPL doesn't wake up looking like frankenstein's sister 1 point GPL doesn't care if you mess around with others(although your lap times will probably drop off some if you do) 1 pt GPL doesn't leave a wet spot(unless you happen to see Surtees in your mirrors at Parabolica) 1pt GPL can be raced several times a night 1pt (this next one is for married guys) GPL has force feedback +2pt GPL doesn't care when guys truthfully say "I Suck!" 1pt GPL allows several guys to all jump at the same opening. 1pt GPL allows you learn every bump, curve & valley....dozens of times. 1pt GPL's Scream (Ferrari) lasts longer(Nurburgring) 1pt GPL has a 'pause' button 1pt. there you have it....close but GPL is clearly the winner... :) dave henrie

I've heard Andre looks pretty good in a sundress. Just ask DGF. <jk> VBG -- See ya in the pits, Dean I have a terrible memory. In fact my memory's so bad I can't remember how long it's been since I've forgotten anything.
