I just tried to race a season. The first race at Daytona was fine, but the 2nd race at north carolina sucked. The AI cars acted like this was a demolition derby. I like the game but I may put it on the shelf till a patch comes out. Anyone know of a fix?
This is from the uspits. it is a workaround, not a fix, but the ai will behave somewhat better. in the main N4 folder is a file called papy_ai.ini open that and look for the following lines..about a halfway down the first section. driver_consistency_to_dlong_lookahead_dev = 0.4 driver_consistency_to_dlat_lookahead_dev = 0.4 change the value in the line to this... driver_consistency_to_dlong_lookahead_dev = 1.0 ;0.4 driver_consistency_to_dlat_lookahead_dev = 1.0 ;0.4 the original value is there just so you don't forget the #. the ; is like a rem statement and everything after it gets ignored. dave henrie <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9L_y6.559012$[email hidden]... > I just tried to race a season. I have started a season and have done the tweaks others have mentioned. My experience so far is great. Race 1- Daytona, I won and was forced to fight my way from the back of the pack to do it. AI was awesome. Race 2- North Carolina - placed toward rear - AI was pretty good, I was the bonehead Race 3- Las Vegas - I was a bonehead for most of the race but once I found some patience I passed 20 cars and finished 8th - AI was awesome again. Race 4- Atlanta - I couldn't keep up with the AI but they did a great job, only 2 cautions and I caused one. Race 5 - don't know yet :) I have found that if I am patient, HOLD MY LINES, take my time and don't stick my nose into bad passing situations, get in position quickly on yellows and stay in line (otherwise I get wacked by AI wizzing by to get to their spots), stay in the outside line when the AI is pitting and have a good stable setup, I have had no problems with this game now that I have put in those little tweaks. Don't feel bad - my "season" (50% length with BGN cars) at Rockingham was a MAJOR wreckfest. I think it that occurred in real life, NASCAR would suspend ALL the drivers! I played with the AI and had some nice runs there, but for some reason in the season mode it was pretty horrid... I think half the laps, if not more, were run under caution. the longest green flag run was like 15 laps at a time. usually they'd wreck on the restart or within 2-3 laps of it... Go into opponent manager and turn down the aggression for each driver. I set it to 10 min. and 20 max. The ai are alot better with those settings. I've had plenty of 3 wide racing with no incidents.
I tried to run a single race at Martinsville and the AI were weird and the green flag never did wave for a start? What to do?? TonyB. Don't run quick race. This gives you a short pacelap and the green never waves. But, the ai are messed up here and is a known bug. "Anthony D. Boynton" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:k%az6.114$[email hidden]...

I tried that, and it had the odd effect of causing a lot of early pit stops by a number of lead-pack cars... Oh weel back to the old electronic brain... John DiFool

I did this and the AI drivers refused to enter their cars!!! I don't recall drivers running into others on purpose, ever. It's getting old! I spent almost $1K upgrading my machine (N4 is partly responsible for that) and all that happens now are fantastic frame rates and AI drivers crashing into me faster and more often than before :-) -pw
