For those of you who are not PC only snobs, there were some awesome videos of GT3 on Techtv's Extended Play TV program. The cars look great, and are obviously high poly count models. The cars appear to move very realistically , which gives me high hopes that they will have a good feel, especially with the new force feedback wheels from logitech and others.
I played with a demo version at the Atlanta Auto Show. It looked great but played just like the original PS versions. The AI drivers don't really have a concept of where you are on the track. They'll bump you from behind, bump you from the side and generally just make a nuisance of themselves. You neither lose speed or accumulate damage so it doesn't really affect the outcome of the race, but Polyphony is touting superior AI in GT3 so it's dissapointing. The movies I've seen on the web and on Extended Play have looked better than what I saw at the auto show, so there is hope. Maybe they've made great strides with the AI. But I will say this... I've never seen a japanese racing game/sim that has any sort of intelligence to the computer controlled cars. I just don't think they give a damn about AI. Ah, but you're forgetting about Super Slalom Back Story VIII: Tomisha Driver Speed Relay! When you are in the Golden Shout Super! stage, the AI would react very realistically, sometimes throwing in a SUPER TURBO KICK TIME!!!!! when you were right in the middle of a race. Now *that* was realism. Anonymous wrote: > I've never seen a japanese > racing game/sim that has any sort of intelligence to the computer controlled > cars. Extended Play also claimed the polygon count for the cars is approx. 10 times what it was in GT2. Weather enhancements and a very cool semi-transarent "dashboard" also look promising. Don't you mean a PS2 AND an XBox? Todd Walker wrote:
