Hey all,
A friend of mine has a weird problem on his system. PIII 550 P6BAT-A+
mainboard , 128MB ram and a Nvidia riva tnt2 m64/tnt2 pro video card.
Drivers are 6.50 for w 98. The system hangs after a few minutes playing
NFS, Gp3 or glp. It slowly freezes the screen with all sorts of garbled
colors. Only a reset on the power is able to get back to windows.
I tried several drivers for this video card but no result.
My question now is: Could this occur due to an overheat of the videocard
or is this a driver prblem? if it is a driver issue, what are the best
drivers for this card and where can I download them?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Alexander.
Overheating - I've been using 6.50 for a while with no problems.

Sounds like an overheating problem and not driver problem.

Suggest to your friend that he checks if the small fan in the graphics board
is running. I had freezes once because of that in an ELSA Erazor 3 (TNT 2
Pro). Also, try to run the machine without cover, with a large fan or blower
blowing into it. If it lasts longer before freezing, it is heat.

Well, there is no fan on the heat sink of the
graphicscard, so I assume this is an overheat problem.

My TNT2 M64 doesn't have a fan either, I don't think they need one at
default clock speeds. Make sure you're not overclocking your card (default
speeds are 125 mhz core and 143 mhz memory for my Elsa Erazor III LT M64
card) and if it's still overheating, then you'll just have to try to get
more cool air flowing across it somehow.
I use 6.72 detonators but I don't think there's anything wrong with the 6.50
ones.

The system hangs after a few minutesMy TNT2, was much more stable after I installed a 486 CPU fan onto its
heatsinc. Easy to do and cost is low. I was having problems
every-other time I played GPL and with the fan I almost never had a
problem.

Thx
I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION Why is there a QUESTION MARK at the
end of the subject line?????? huh??? HUH??? shouldn't it be:

Statement rather than a question.

Uncheck "Display Logo" under the D3D settings, which is under your
display properties. That should be unchecked by default so don't know
how it got turned on.

What drivers are you using? Open regedit and use find to look for
LOGOENABLE change 1 to 0.
