Use CloneCD to make an image of the CD. Then use DaemonTools to mount the CD under SecuRom emulation. Not only do you not need the CD now, but you can race on-line. This tip is only intended for those who legally purchased their copy of N4, and only want to use it as THEY wish to use it as the legal purchaser. -Larry "pacer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:TgHG6.45210$[email hidden]...

Larry, I never used those tools but have tried something similar before and the big drawback was that the image of the CD takes up as much space as the CD itself. Disk space is cheaper then ever before, but it still seems like a huge waste of space. Is that how this utlity works, too? I'm using the daemon tools for N4. It works great and Yes it takes up a lot of room on a hard drive. but with a 30 meg tied to a 13 meg and kicking my kids shooters off...lots of room. However, since the patch came out, everytime I reboot the the autostart N4 screen comes up. Not a problem but wierd... dave henrie "Tim Elhajj" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Larry, I never used those tools but have tried something similar beforeand > the big drawback was that the image of the CD takes up as much space asthe > CD itself. There is probably an option to turn the auto-insert feature off.
Right click on my computer, device manager, CD ROMs and turn off auto insert notification for the virtual CD ROM. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Dave Henrie <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qP1H6.80302$[email hidden]... > I'm using the daemon tools for N4. Yes. It's not a waste of space if it accomplishes your goal :) -Larry "Tim Elhajj" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Larry, I never used those tools but have tried something similar beforeand > the big drawback was that the image of the CD takes up as much space asthe > CD itself. That's an option DaemonTools. You need to turn off the Autostart for that CD 'slot'. -Larry "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qP1H6.80302$[email hidden]...

Actually, I believe for DaemonTools images you set that option per image in DaemonTools itself. I think... :) -Larry "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9cjebn$ql8$[email hidden]... > Right click on my computer, device manager, CD ROMs and turn off autoinsert

From Daemon tools manual. 2.4 Note for ALL operating systems: ----------------------------------- Virtual DAEMON Manager starts with Windows by default. You can disable this behaviour in the options menu by unchecking 'Autostart' option! You may run the manager manually, if you want, by clicking on the shortcut placed on the desktop by setup. Emulation will not be active until you run the Manager and select the desired emulation! Images previously mounted are remounted after reboot if you have 'Autostart' enabled. If 'Autoinsert Notification' (AIN) is enabled, too, the mounted images will 'Autorun'. To prevent this disable AIN or deselect 'Automount' in DAEMON Manager. So I guess we're both sort of right, but without AIN you don't have to remount whenever you want to play. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Larry <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:BMeH6.46160$[email hidden]... > Actually, I believe for DaemonTools images you set that option per image in > DaemonTools itself. > > I think... > > :) > > -Larry > > "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:9cjebn$ql8$[email hidden]... > > Right click on my computer, device manager, CD ROMs and turn off auto > insert > > notification for the virtual CD ROM. > > > > -- > > Ian P > > <email invalid due to spam>

True enough. I'll give it a try. If I like it, I can always get another disk just for cd images. Where do you get these utilities, Larry? "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:OIeH6.46158$[email hidden]...

You can get it from the pits, go to stockcar, n4, then it's about half way down the page. It changes your version to the US version though (1.1.0.0, rather than international which is 1.1.1.0), which means when it comes to future patching, you MUST keep hold of your un-nocd'd exe to patch. -- Thanks!
