CART Texas race cancelled over driver g-force dizziness

Posters reported that CART cancelled its Texas Motor Speedway race after drivers suffered dizziness from sustained high g-forces. David G Fisher's jibe at oval racing drew rebuttals, and the thread turned into jokes about figure-eight tracks and memories of figure-eight and 'train' races.

Maybe in the future when they're building an oval track they could make one of the four corners clockwise ;) "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:UkZG6.79255$[email hidden]... > Speedvison and other sites are saying the CART race at Texas has been > cancelled due to the drivers > experiencing dizziness while running long stetches > dave henrie > >
They're all clockwise if you drive the other way 'round.... Jan./strokes beard, realising he forgot to shave... ;-) =--- Simon Brown wrote... > Maybe in the future when they're building an oval track > they could make one of the four corners clockwise ;)
Aha, i've got it! What they should do is build a giant figure-8, so then half the corners would be clockwise, and half counter-clockwise, and one track would go under the other in a tunnel for the cross-over. That would be a really cool track and no one would get dizzy... :) ( ) X ( ) Voila! ( one corner clockwise was a joke of course ) "Jan Verschueren" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Ok, wiseguy... check your mail for a more recent picture. Jan./just thought I looked less misogynic in that late boyhood shot. =--- "Pay attention when I'm talking to you boy!" -Foghorn Leghorn. Mark Seery wrote... > Hehe. You've started shaving at last then baby face :-) > > MS
Yeah I know you're joking... but they still run figure 8 races with stockcars. You can catch it on Motor Madness on TNN sometimes. The figure 8 is on the inside of a 1/2 mile track, so the cars don't get going that fast, and the leader usually waits for the rest of the pack to pull through before crossing the 8. It still looks pretty ridiculous. David Simon Brown <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ywdH6.13654$[email hidden]...

Why put in a tunnel? you could just make it a figure-8 and call it the XRL series... kinda like football :) On Mon, 30 Apr 2001 13:11:58 GMT, "Simon Brown" <[email hidden]> wrote:

A figure 8 race would be awesome to watch, but I doubt you'd ever get a sane person to do it, much less someone to underwrite the event! An interesting idea that will probably only be seen in computer games. (ala Jeff Gordon's racing game of a few years back) Tim. Some of those games can be fun That Jeff Gordon game was actually fun, even if it only took about 1 hour to get through the whole thing Arcade style driving games are a nice stress reliever sometimes "Tim Vannaman" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I've seen a figure-8 race of sorts at a local race track. Was more along the lines of a demolition derby though. Called "train races", they consisted of 3 cars welded together, with the driver in the front car having steering and gas and the driver in the rear car having steering and brakes, and the car in the middle was just empty. Quite interesting to watch, especially the crack-ups :-) -- Andy Carabino to email, remove the 'fat' "You know you're at an engineering school when your date starts talking about goretex and teflon." --personal experience

I don't get it - both front and rear drivers could steer? Andre >-- >Andy Carabino >to email, remove the 'fat' >"You know you're at an engineering school when your date starts talking about goretex and teflon." --personal experience

Andre, take a beer now! :) The front driver steers the vehicle in front, and the read driver steers the vehicle in the back. Makes for some interesting conering techniques i guess... -- Olav K. Malmin remove .spam when replying
