Stoppies in Superbike 2001 and old-time bike racing memories

A player asked whether stoppies (lifting the rear wheel under braking) are possible in Superbike 2001. After explaining the term, the thread turned to Thom j.'s recollections of racing motorcycles in the 1960s, banter about members' ages, and a crash video.

Has anybody successfully been doing stoppies in SBK2001? I think I've read somewhere that in an early beta it was possible. Are there any file that could be tinkered with? /Carl

They're the opposite of a wheelie. A wheelie lifts the front wheel from too much power, a stoppie lifts the rear wheel from too much braking ;) -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Thom j. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:wgAM6.6701$[email hidden]... > Sorry Carl but what the "H" are "stoppies"??? > > "Carl Ribbegaardh" wrote: > | Has anybody successfully been doing stoppies in SBK2001? > | I think I've read somewhere that in an early beta it was possible. > | Are there any file that could be tinkered with? > | /Carl > > >

Todd I got on my first motorcycle in 1961 {wow its been that long? yikes} and raced from the mid 60s until about 74-75. Unless my memory is going in my old cabaza`{which is possible mind you} the word "Stoppie." is new to me! Over the top, Off the Highside, etc yes but never "stoppie"!! Sorry. Cheers Thom_j. "O" I had a Honda for a week but my first bike was an old single cylinder 500cc BSA & they were called "thumbers" by all the racers. What a ride! "Todd Walker" wrote: | Are you serious Thom? You forgort the Flying W. We called single cylinder 4 strokes Thumpers not Thumbers... My first bike was in 1973/4 One of the first Honda Two Stroke bikes...not the MX racer but the street/trail version of the MT 250 Elsinore. I spent the next two years turning it into a macho dirt bike, with Aluminum wheels, plastic fenders 3 gal desert tank, fancy Euro Shocks, and a CR 250 Piston(the MX racer piston) I had a pretty mean machine...it got stolen right about then. dave henrie "Andre Warringa" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

That's why you haven't heard of it then, the old drum brakes back then didn't have enough stopping power to do a stoppie :) -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Thom j. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:c3LM6.39$[email hidden]... > Todd I got on my first motorcycle in 1961 {wow its been that long? yikes} > and raced from the mid 60s until about 74-75. If you're talking about stopping the bike and doing a burnout, yeah, with dual axis pedals or dual axis whatever-you're-using, it's possible.
