Idea for an open-formula Papyrus sim

Andrew East proposed a Papyrus sim with its own formula rules, letting users design cars and tracks. Most thought it would not sell, others said World Sports Cars was pursuing a similar open idea, and the thread featured some rude exchanges and jokes about a poster's real-life crash.

Why doesn't Papy develop a sim that is it's own formula. Ie they set the design rules and let all you talented people design cars and engines etc. Open source sort of thing. Open wheeler of course. With the talented track designers out there tracks wouldn't be a problem. Car designers could sell there cars for online racers.

Nice idea. But the general public can't do stuff like designing cars, tracks etc. All they want is a game to load up and play. So, while it would be a good idea to have an "open source" game, i doubt it would sell well. -- brian - Turn up the heat to reply -

Papy is waiting for T.R.A.C. to decide what cars and tracks they are going to use first. Creating fictionnal formula (open-wheel, touring cars and stockcars) BUT with the help of major licensing. Like Ford Racing or Gran Turismo. Be fair Zonk. It's not like he crashed into the pitwall on the out lap. All he did was crash his teams new car that they'd only just taken delivery of on his (and its) first lap of the first practice. He had cold tyres though. M

Ummm, so in that situation he should have expected warm tires? ;) "But in a way, fear is a big part of racing, because if there was nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

I'd like to say that he drives like a girl, but then i understand a girl drove that car to 2nd place in the FF Festival, rather than into a wall. Z. -- Please remove my_pants when replying by email.
