fDoes anybody know how to improve the framerates in GPL when racing in
cockpit mode? It seems that the game runs blindingly fast when the
whole car is visible on the screen but as soon as I switch into the
cockpit the framerate drops dramaticaly. I run a P3 750 Vodoo 5 with
256megs of ram. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you saying the framerate is dropping or the sensation of speed, i.e.
the rapidity with which the scenery flies by, seems greater out of the car?
Hit...ctrl f to check your framerate. You should be able to get 36 fairly
easily with that system.
turn off 4xfsaa if you are using that option..try 2xfsaa.
