Well new computer got here and quickly loaded N4 to try the speedier processor but can't get the sound to work right. Have tried all of the sound options and various levels but sounds are corrupted bad. Very loud buzzing crackling and popping with the sounds I'm used to in the background. Damn near thought I blew my speakers. Have since learned puter came with a suspect sound card...the Conexant "Riptide" combo. Any help or suggestions welcomed even if the consensus is to but a new card. Also game loads fine through cd-rom drive but will only play through dvd ?? Hewlitt Packard - bought from ubid.com so it's mine love it or fix it. 900 mhz athlon 128 meg ram TNT 16 meg banta (weak I know) vid card 48x cd rom 12x dvd TIA
Do you know if the motherboard uses the VIA chipset? I don't have an Athlon or VIA based system, but I have often heard of people solving problems with Athlon/VIA systems (inlcuding the crackling sound problem) by installing the latest motherboard drivers.
