I had to reinstall GPL from scratch and when I'm done I can't use D3D cause when I lauch the game it just drops to desktop even without showing anything. If I use OGL I can drive and stuff but when I exit the driving and return to the menus I have half the screen outside the viewable area. The screen is shifted down so to speak. Help, what do I do now? /Blackhawk

Have you adjusted your core.ini for DirectX? (Bearing in mind that on a fresh install it will be named "core.ini.sample" and do nothing at all). -- [email hidden] "Blackhawk" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:kmRS6.1078$[email hidden]... > Ok, I got a Elsa Erazor X2 Geforce DDR. I have a Athlon 600, Elsa Erazor X2 (DDR-Ram) and with trilinear filtering, mirrors every 2nd frame I get a constant (and I mean CONSTANT) 36fps in AI-races and online-races unless there is a very big crash with lots of stuff happening which lets the frames drop to about 25. If GPL is the only game you play: go for a Voodoo3. If it's not: buy a GeForce DDR. This card is more than enough for GPL and it's WAY faster with all other games (example: 78fps in Q2-crusher @ 1024x768, no tweaks, no OC). Lio ================================================================= Not sure if anyone has discussed this yet, but there are GeForce drivers out there that allow for FSAA (Full Screen Anti-Aliasing) in OpenGL and D3D (although not very well yet). I'm running Windows2000 on a Dell P3-866 with the 64MB GeForce DDR and gave FSAA a shot last night. First I made sure that at 640x480 I could get the max refresh rate which is 120Hz. In Win2K it's kind of funny in that if a lower refresh rate is available, GPL always uses it - so I have to hack the registry to get rid of them first. My hope was that at 640x480 + FSAA GPL would look better than it would at say, 1600x1200. My inclination was correct! at 640x480x32 with FSAA GPL was BEAUTIFUL and FLUID. 36+ fps and NO JAGGIES. Now the bad news - The menus are all hosed up. They write all over each other and generally make it impossible to navigate after a while. Secondly the mirrors in cockpit view are only 1/2 there. Just wondering if anyone has come up with a hack or knows of the settings that will fix these issues so that FSAA would be useable in GPL. I planned on putting a screenshot up in alt.binaries.simulators but for some reason pbf2tga doesn't work for screenshots with this video card. Must be the color depth or something... Looking forward to any idea's or comments. --David Cook =================================================================== On Fri, 23 Jun 2000 20:50:33 +0100, "MJS" <[email hidden]> thus spoke: >I've downloaded the new patch but it won't work on my system. If i try to enter a race by clicking thearrows >(no writing anywhere) i just get 2 big tyres on screen and themachine >freezes. Anyone else having problems ? Maybe because you have "force FSAA" turned on? I just tested it out and got excellent results. Never below 36fps, sharper graphics than using the OpenGL patch too.Thx Papy. Looks as good as Glide mose now. Only problem was that with FSAA on the frame rate was unplayable, but I can hardly tell the dif with it on or off, and that's the truth. I got about 24-26fps with FSAA on, but it felt more like 8-10. Only problem I encounterd was that I got the following error when exiting the game the first time. DDHELP caused an invalid page fault in module 3DBGFD32.DLL at 015f:b00d8b03. DDHelp is a Directx Helper app. Rebooted before running GPL again and never got the error again. Running on Annihilator2 with Creative Labs 5.22 drivers. Excellent, just wish a few more developers would show the same support and make their games work properly on non-Glide video cards. You listening EA/Jane's? :-) BTW, here are the settings I used in the core.ini file.Just folllow the readme instructions. I finally got the Detonator 4 v12.41 drivers and now all of a sudden the D3D works great. Dunno why it didn't work with the other because I used the 6.5 from Nvidias homepage. Now I can finaly get some laps on that great Le Mans circuit and maybe improve on my lousy 3:42:68. /Blackhawk "Laurence Wilmer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:kRSS6.1283$[email hidden]...
