I don't get it. I have a PCeleron 700, 128MB RAM and a Voodoo3/3000, and I can run 43 cars in chase view crystal clear. I don't use cockpit, so I guess that's the difference, but I think N4 is better than N3 seeing I'm used to the physics now... Go N4!

Nascar 4 didn't run on my P3/550 but now it runs just fine on my 1ghz Athlon T-Bird "Gunslinger" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... I hate to say it, but NASCAR 3. I have fiddled, tweaked, downloaded, re-installed, bought new hardware, and prayed to a golden monkey and I HAVE HAD IT with NASCAR 4. I have a P3 650, 196 Meg Ram, TNT2 Ultra , and can not run the damn thing with 43 cars and get above 20 FPS when in the cockpit view. Come on, Im computer savvy, I've been using them since the TRS-80 CoCo days damn it. My computer is not that old that it should be a dinosaur that fast for God's sake. Anyway, after 3 weeks of of a major headache of trying to get N4 to run smoothly I said the hell with it. I reinstalled Nascar3 last night and wondered what the hell the big fuss is over N4 anyway. N3 runs smooth as glass, everything maxed, 1024x768, full field. The racing is good (no irrating hard left pull) , the Force feedback works great so damn it... The HELL I say with NASCAR 4. P.S. Anyone have an Athlon 1.333 266 FSB system I could "borrow"?

When I heard that N4 was going to need a little horsepower under the hood I saved and bought an Athlon 900 with a GeForce2 card. I've since added more memory bringing it up to 512 megs. I enjoy 45-50 fps in 35-40 car races and I use cockpit view. I have no complaints with the game now except for the wreckers. Oh, and I connect using DSL. The only problem I had when buying the computer is that I didn't know what I wanted for sound so I just went with the onboard sound until I could decide. That made N4 unbearable. Graphics were great but the sound was awful. Sounded like my car and all the other cars were powered by Norelco razor motors. Then, $350 later I had a SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 and a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 speaker system. First time I fired up the game and stepped on the gas I thought I was gonna piss my pants. ;o) Dave Casey Casey#9 (NASCAR Racing 4) www.teamcasey.net www.lvkc.com www.buycoolcrap.com
NASCAR 4 runs fine on my Pentium 2 350. Admittedly I have decreased graphic detail and I only run with 20 AI. Eek. Doesn't N3 seem really cheesy physics-wise after N4? I tried it briefly, but couldn't stand it. I'd run less cars in N4 before going back. On Sat, 09 Jun 2001 04:20:29 GMT, Gunslinger <[email hidden]> wrote: >I hate to say it, but NASCAR 3. [snip]

Gunslingler, In one word; physics. I also went back to Nascar3 for a week or so, after the fustration that Nascar 4 caused me. But after some reflection, it seemed to be exactly the same fustration we all felt when we 1st tried GPL after years of mastering the fine art of ICR2. Nascar 4 is a real hog when it comes to computer power. All I can say is to drop down the drawn cars to 24 or so in front and 4 to 6 in mirrors and see what happens. I couldn't get it to run maxed out on a AMD K7-800 and I still can't maxed it out on a AMD 1.2 gig machine. Just a note. N4 runs fine (40-60 fps) on my P-3 600 but on my brothers p3-550 it wouldn't run for doo doo (18-25 fps). After much fiddling, it turns out his THRUSTMASTER software, which runs behind the scene and which we figured HAD to run, was hogging the processor. Turned it off and BANG! 40-60 fps. We knew to turn off everthing else running in the background, but never figured the wheel software was such a wheezer. Michael Loos Gasoline Alley...The Fastest Show In Radio! He's just whining because his system doesn't have the juevos to run run the sim at an acceptable level of detail and perofrmance. So, instead of blaming his hardware (he could probably upgrade his CPU to at least an 850, and the TNT card is a true dinosaur), he blames the software. <sarcasm>That's real productive...</sarcasm> In article <9ft5p8$66p$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...

The physics in N3 always felt kind of flat to me, N4 is truly a great sim IMO and I don't even like NASCAR. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers> "Uncle Fester" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > > Tim O wrote: > > > > Eek. I couldnt stand N3 once GPL came out, that was over 3 years ago. N1,N2, N3 could make decent drag racing sims. :0 Charlie B Tim O <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

uhhhh Charlie....N3 came out about 2-3 years AFTER GPL....just thought you'd like to know :) dave henrie "Charlie B" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:TYxU6.5993$p%[email hidden]... > I couldnt stand N3 once GPL came out, that was over 3 years ago. N1,N2,N3

Damn thanks for the info...I had to put my PIII 500 back in after I toasted my AMD bios....so when I went back the fps didn't seem to be the same...I had also gotten a TM wheel recently. I'll check that out. dave henrie "Race1530" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Just a note.
