UbiSoft Official F1RC Patch Statement
12:00 cet (+1 GMT) | by Kenneth Verburg | Source: UbiSoft
UbiSoft UK has released an official statement on their website
concerning the long-due F1 Racing Championship patch:
We can understand if you are getting impatient waiting for our next
patch to become available. The availability date had to be pushed back
to allow us to improve the content and effects. The patch is presently
in the hands of our development teams in charge of implementing the
necessary modifications. Please try to understand that we don't wish
to disappoint our faithful players or lose their confidence, but we
are nevertheless bound by technical constraints that impose a further
delay. We thank you for having just a little more patience and we want
to ensure you that we are doing everything in our power to speed up
the process. Best Regards from, The Ubi Soft Consumer Department.
Flame warUbi Soft UK statement on delayed F1RC patch
Scalawag posted Ubi Soft UK's official statement on the long-delayed F1 Racing Championship patch, which suggested the delay was due to further work rather than FIA approval. ymenard and others said this proved the FIA excuse false, while David G Fisher argued the patch had gone to the FIA and was then revised, leading to an insult-laden exchange. The thread then turned to arguments over Montoya, Ralf and Michael Schumacher.

and smoke it for doubting that there is going to be a patch at all! This
info has been available from Ubi support for a while now anyway.

Best Regards from, The Ubi Soft Consumer Department. If you followed the statements by the Ubi Soft and Actualize people, you'd
know the patch did go for approval, but Ubi decided to work on it further
after not being satisified, and hearing concerns of users. Do you think
there was just one single copy of the patch, and once they sent it to the
FIA, they couldn't work on it anymore?
You're more wrong than anyone. This statement has been out for at least a
week.
You said there wouldn't be any patch at all. LOL.

There will be graphical changes in the patch. If the graphics are changed,
then that is something that has to be checked by the FIA. If an
advertisement on a car is a little too large, they want it fixed. Do they
care about a controller bug fix? Doubtful.
Your stance that the FIA doesn't have anything to do with these F1 games is
really stupid, do you know that?
Why the h*ll did Ubi make MGPRS2 with fictitious graphics?

I'm as wrong about the Papy ff issue as I was about Montoya.
How's he doing BTW?
Crashed out of the last two races. Only finished one race so far this
season. R. Schumacher has won two, and qualified higher than him in every
race but one (by .7 the past two races). Villeneuve wanted to kick his ass,
and Frank Williams has told him to get his act together. Even his dad says
he needs a new approach.

Incorrect. It's been stated for a while now that they were "awaiting
FIA approval". Some folks bought the corporate propaganda, others
didn't. Although it does seem the nay-sayers to the patch were off on a
bit of a tangent.

sent off for approval from the FIA), and then re-evaluated due to continued
testing, private beta tester feedback, and public feedback? The
developers/publisher then may issue a new statement regarding the status.
In my beta testing experience, this is very, very, very, very, very, very
common. No propaganda is needed, especially since this isn't an issue that
will make national headlines in the media.

I would think companies would want to go ahead and release the patch they
have that at least fixes some of the issues, and start work on a second
patch for issues that arose late in development or release.

Although, they and others (like MF for RC2000) will be criticized for that
approach as well. Now, maybe due to Actualize, Ubi Soft have taken the same
approach as Papyrus (two months for N4 patch).

Cheap bastards, that's why.
That's hardly a fair comparison. Ralf has competed in about 75 Grand Prix,
whereas JPM is a rookie.
I'd be surprised if JPM had only won two races by the time he reached his
75th GP.

season in an F1 car and some testing. Champ Cars have slick tyres and
turbos, so it's quite a switch to go to F1 cars.
As for his attitude, he's made one stupid naive comment to Villeneuve in the
middle of a heated argument. Big deal. I remember Michael Schumacher
accusing DC of trying to kill him at Spa, which was even more ludicrous.
Having watched Montoya for the last two years in CART, I think he's an
exceptional natural talent.
Sure he's making mistakes at the moment, but what did Mika Hakkinen spend
his first year in F1 doing? Casuing a shunt at the first turn of every
other race, and now he's a double world champion, so I think it's a little
early to be writing Montoya off completely.

I never said he was a "rookie race car driver". He's a rookie in the
competitive ranks of F1. But then you knew that. Watch where he's at
in a few year's time.

Then why didn't you or DGF post it here for the rest of us?
That's a short sighted attitude. Look at Mika Hakkinen's first season in
F1, he couldn't get past the first corner without causing a shunt, and now
he's a double world champion. It took Ralf 70 races to get his first win.
JPM will inevitably calm down as he gets older and more mature. At the
moment he's just a typical young Colombian driver, hot-headed and excitable.
His talent is beyond doubt, rookie CART champion, Indy 500 winner, and but
for a backmarker he would have won only his second ever GP.

A 20 year old Jenson Button didn't seem to have the same kind of troubles as
Montoya is having .
19 year old Raikkonen is doing very well this year compared to his more
experienced teammate.
Montoya has a huge advantage over the other drivers mentioned (Zanardi,
Hakkinen, Raikkonen, Button) in that he has a car that can not only compete
with the Ferrari and McLaren, but sometimes be the best on the grid as in
Montreal.

Can't disagree with that really- Montoya has potential I think but he's not
there yet, and his temper needs, er, tempering ;o).
For the definition of a good rookie, look at Kimi Raikkonen- you don't see
him brawling in drivers briefings.
cheers

BTW, Montoya has not only been an ass with Vliieneuve, but his comments
about Schumacher were also immature.

him. You think that was mature?
None of those drivers you mention have out-performed JPM, given that he had
a race win snatched away by a dumb backmarker in only his 2nd race. None of
those other names can match that potential.
And like I said, Mika Hakkinen was a disaster in his first year in F1, and
he's now a top driver and double world champion.

Given the circumstances in that Spa GP, I think I can understand Schumi's
outburst!

It's only Michaels paranoid egocentric mind that could believe that DC took
him out deliberately. McLaren even went to the trouble of proving to
Michael afterwards that DC had been running at that same pace for lap after
lap (even the same speed at that particular part of the track), yet we heard
no apology from Schumacher. And thanks to this DC now gets booed and jeered
by Ferrari fans for no reason.
Schumacher should have showed some decency and set the record straight.
Instead he even suggested recently that 'maybe the spa crash was deilberate
afterall' when DC made a dumb overtaking move, which forced them both wide.
Anyone who watches a lot of F1 and has seen a lot of interviews with DC
should know he is comfortably the most honest driver in F1. He's honest to
the point that it even costs him points and wins, like letting Hakkinen
through in Melbourne, which was totally unnecessary.
No matter how many races MS wins, and how many championships, no matter how
brilliant a driver he is, I'll only remember him for his arrogance and his
lack of sportsmanship.

Well, I'm not saying JPM is a definite future world champion, just that it's
too early to say he won't be a future world champion.

Well, I disagree. MS is the best driver around, and to be that you need
some arrogance.
I don't think MS was suggesting that DC took him out deliberately, it's just
that slowing down (despite what McClaren said) in those conditions was very
dangerous, and MS's outburst was quite understandable under the
circumstances.

He definitely acused DC of trying to kill him, that's the exact words he
used. Also he hasn't stopped going on about that incident from that day to
this.
I agree he's a great driver, his skill, control and determination are
without parallel in F1. However, I have no respect for him as a sportsman
or human being.
He was also found guilty by the FIA of deliberately trying to take out
Jacques Villeneuve to win himself the world title. The fates didn't smile
on him that day and luckily for the sake of F1 he didn't succeed. He was
stripped of his second place in the championship though, and he had to take
part in an FIA road safety campaign as part of his punishment.

I know that's what he said, but that was very much in the heat of a (very
nasty) moment. Although he hasn't forgotten the incident, I don't think he
has ever repeated the killing accusation since.
The JV incident was inexcusable, as was a similar one in Australia in
1995(?) when he took Damon Hill out and spoil his championship challenge.
I'm not saying he's perfect, but he is the best and I love watching him.
