Bugbear developers discuss new Rally Trophy screenshots

New screenshots of the historic rally sim Rally Trophy prompted comments on period liveries. Developer Ilari Lehtinen said the team focused on car physics and planned to release tools for importing user-made cars and stages but no track editor, and artist Sami Räihä acknowledged inaccuracies in the Mini model. Posters urged openness to add-ons and joked about the 'golden era' of rallying.

Also.. another point worth making... sponsorship was not that big back then (ref. the Amazon) -- ed_ -- Note! In 1967 ?? -- Nope! :-) Guess it depends upon the period they want to "re-create". Unless I'm mistaken - "bigtime" sponsorship didnt surface until the early 70's in rally... -- ed_ -- Note! The era in Rally Trophy is more among the lines of "those golden days" than "between 1969 May 15th evening and August 2nd mid-afternoon", so we can get a nifty variety of cars. We have concentrated our nitpicking on the car physics. :-) -Ilari "Ed Solheim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:XGSX6.3520$[email hidden]...

I'm going to anyway... 1) Will there be any sort of track editor? 2) How much scope is there for third-party addons, and how hard would it be to produce them? -- David. These are issues we haven't decided fully yet, but it _seems_ at the moment that we'll be releasing tools to import user-made addons into the game. No track editor as such, as new tracks would be imported as well, AFAIK. Again, this is how it's scetched at the moment and it could still change. We'll let you know when we know for sure, don't worry. :-) -Ilari "David Buttery" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

This sound like good music to me! :-) Being able to import cars, paintjobs and stages would be a huge pluss to this title! Please let me reserve "33 EJB" at once :-) I'm allready looking forward to it as a little kid! -- ed_ -- NOTE! Look at GPL - an userbase that's actively involved with a game helps that game live for a lot longer than it would if it were a "closed system". To hell with WSC, *this* is the game at the top of my "most wanted" list right now... if this game is anywhere near as good as it looks so far, I'll be into EB the second it's out - dubious Monte exclusions ahoy! -- David. Message delivered to appropriate parties. :-) We know the importance of player communities adding to the game's lifespan with modifications and such, it's just a matter of how it'll be done. About the visuals.. There's a surprising amount of people claiming the screenshots are pre-rendered and fake. And they haven't even seen the best shots yet! -Ilari "David Buttery" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

<SATIRE> I've heard rumors -- or maybe it's just my medication wearing off -- that the West Brothers are teaming with Bugbear to produce World Rally Sports Trophy Cars. It will be so realistic that it will leave oil stains under your monitor. And it will, to John Bodin's point, model only the very most golden days of world rally sport trophy car competition. That being the morning (10:03) of February 2nd 1968 and July 17th around midnight (11:56). With time off for lunch, of course. </SATIRE> On Wed, 20 Jun 2001 14:45:41 GMT, [email hidden] (John Bodin) wrote:

Remove "hi" from address or it will bounce....
<SATIRE> Ha! Another self-proclaimed "rally expert" shows just how little he really knows about rallying. Anybody who knows anything could tell you that the TRUE golden days of world rally sport trophy competition actually started at 9:26 am on the morning of February 2nd, 1968. Many people have bought into the myth that it actually started at 10:03 am, but this is just plain wrong. Some would also debate your allegation about the 11:56 pm time, as many feel that the era actually came to an end at 11:58 pm, but I am inclined to go with the earlier time myself, so I guess we can at least agree on this point. Be advised, though, that you should read your non-disclosure agreements more carefully next time -- I believe all the gamma testers for World Rally Sports Trophy Cars were advised to keep quiet about the Bugbear/West brothers tie-in, so please be more careful in the future. </SATIRE> On Fri, 22 Jun 2001 01:08:58 GMT, [email hidden] wrote:

Thanks Ed, I try to make all the models as original ones, but there's always some difficulties to do so. We have blueprints for only few cars, some cars I have to make only looking for poor pictures from internet, due the good old cars are hard to find to take pictures nowadays. That mini I've made have some bugs as well and I'm fixing them as soon as possible. -Sami Rih 3D-Artist Email: [email hidden] "Ed Solheim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:5BnY6.4132$[email hidden]...
