So it looks as though Bernie's new points system (1 point for the winner, zero for the rest) will be implemented next year. This is the way it was years ago and imo a typical case of de-evolution. Anyway, so we have this factor in combination with the budget cap - here's an interesting scenario. With drivers no doubt going gang busters there will no doubt be a rise in accidents and damage to equipment. So you get to the last few races of the season, in contention, and you put your car into the wall in practice say. Sorry, we're out of money - no more spare parts. See you all next year..................................................................... This should be an interesting juggling act for the teams - spare parts vs. performance.

I'm not so sure that creating spare parts will have such an huge influence on the budget. After all, personel is already paid, research is done, and the material shouldn't cost that much. However, there might be another problem with the budget cap. The reason for a budget cap is to allow more teams on the grid. And that's because the deal with the TV networks guarantees a full grid. So far, so good. But when the FIA proposes rule changes to make F1 more atractive for a larger audience, it might divide the budget capped and none-budget capped teams. A larger audience isn't that much important for the budget capped teams, since they can't use the increased income anyway , where the none capped teams can. It might increase the chance that the car manufacturers start their own series. Cheers! Remco

Hmm, I see a new business opportunity here. I could sell my spare parts to people that need them for massive profits.

Tell that to Bernie and Max! I just read that Max Mosley's son was found dead as the result of a drug overdose - why am I not surprised. Imagine having an old man who got caught on film getting his arse caned by whores! Anyway, enough on that. It seems of late that every time I turn around and look at what's going on and being proposed by the F1 hierarchy that I am left dumb founded - they have lost the plot completely in my opinion.

If it is any consolation, I heard on the F1 broadcast that the points for a win only system is not going to happen. I also heard that two new teams are coming to F1 in 1010, both from the USA. My speculation is Cosworth will supply engines. Ed
