I decided to do my first full length race a week ago
at France.
I didn't check carefully, went to setup and chose
2 pit stops, the sim filled in gallons and I didn't
do to math to see that the laps added up, they didn't
So I'm leading with 7 or 8 laps to go, watching
my fuel status run down. I did an unscheduled pit
and had to sit there 30 seconds while my Ferrari
received enough gas do drive itself to Silverstone.
Next, Silverstone. I counted the laps and gallons
this time, but I ran low before being called in. So
I pitted, perhaps a lap or two early. Same thing, 30
Seconds to put twice as much gas in as needed, on both
pit stops.
How do I change this, or is this how Michael keeps
Rubins in the second seat?
Thanks
Larry

A couple of hints. 1st...setup the pitstop strategy in advance...but you
already found that out.
2nd. two things could be slowing down your pitstop.
are you A) calling in to the pits in advance requesting a pitstop? If you
just drive into the pits, your crew has to scramble and get ready and find
the right tires and get the fuel rig etc. Your radio will let you know
AFTER you have requested a pitstop when to come in.
B) if you have damage, the pit crew will try to fix it
C) use the ` key(or tab I forget which) and get the paticulars for the
pitstop, you can then specify a tiny amouunt of fuel, no tires etc.

Request pitstop at least half a track before. If the green led turns
on (on the right handside of the cockpit), it means the crew is ready and
expecting you. I wouldn't listen to the voice messages. They sometimes turn
out to be wrong when it comes to pit order.

Thanks Philip:
I missed that when I skimmed the manual.
It's not in the table of contents.
