Have the old SBK and it runs fine. Got the new Superbike 2001, and it crashes to desktop after it loads a game. The installation went fine. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! I had to set my desktop color depth to 16bpp to get that game to start. I cannot begin to describe how much I hate that. -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 gitaren er en sjingke

Why? You should always set your desktop to 16bit when running a game, unless the game is running in 32bit. Setting the desktop tp 32bit and then runnign a lower colour bit game causes poorer performance in the game.
Ok I had the same problem and it all started when I upgraded to Dx8, what version are you running?, I now have x7 and it will work fine. Don`t know if anyone else has noticed this. no, it doesn't. you see, games can set their own color-depth. the desktop color depth is totally irrelevant. as you long as you run your games in full-screen, of course. -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 to err is human -- to forgive is bovine.
Actually, N4 running in open GL uses the desktop colour setting, at least it does with my ATI Radeon card. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers> "Gunnar Horrigmo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > > no, it doesn't. you see, games can set their own color-depth. the > desktop color depth is totally irrelevant. as you long as you run > your games in full-screen, of course. > > > -- > Gunnar > #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 > to err is human -- to forgive is bovine.
I've noticed it. Is there really lots of trouble to go back to 7. I'd really like to play SBK 2001 again Ady wrote:

I just reinstalled SBK2001 yesterday and I'm running DX8.1 on a Geforce2 with 12.90 drivers and had no problems at all.

sure but it's totally unnecessary, it's bad programming, and it _really_ annoys me. :) -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 myk, trygg og god.
