Anyone get the GP3 add-on yet?

Grand Prix 3 2000 season add-on delayed

A poster asked about the official GP3 2000 season add-on, which had apparently slipped to September. Douglas Ellison urged a boycott, and others listed the free community updates that already provide 2000 and 2001 cars, tracks, physics updates, sound patches and long replays. Gamespot later rated the add-on 7.5 out of 10.

No one here's actually going to BUY It are they? It's not going to make the game any better You can already patch it for 3D sound and the physics is not being altered in any way As a gesture of disaproval of the FARCE that was GP3 - I urge all to not buy the add on - and at the VERY LEAST - wait for a demo before ordering GP4 Douglas Ellison "Anthony Brooks" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

IIRC even with just two speakers, you still get to hear the other cars and positional audio using GPxPatch. Which patch? The official GP3 add-on isn't out yet but I believe that it will use 3D sound effects using appropriate soundcards and EAX drivers. The free GPxPatch and the other unofficial patches do a lot of the things that the official add-on will do...even with two speakers at least you'll be able to tell if a car is on the left or right of you (the mirrors don't cover enough area like alongside of the car!). The full list of things for the add-on is here (lifted from the Alpha site)... ------------------------------------------------------ 1. Official FIA 2000 license including all teams and drivers 2. Two new tracks: Indianapolis and Sepang 3. Updated original tracks to match the 2000 season including new ad banners 4. New track details: Catch fencing and camera crews on the track 5. Debris collisions: Eg. hitting a wheel on the track will damage your front wing 6. Pit to car radio messages (only some useful messages) 3d audio: hear sounds also from the other cars. Uses EAX standard and you can hear reverbs from tunnels and pits. 7. Full replay mode: Use the function keys to rewinds, pause, etc the game. Up to 1,5 hours are recorded. 8. New game mode - Quicklap: Useful if you have two setups for one track and you want to test them under the exact same condtions. Makes the game also more fun if you just want to have a quick competition with your pals with one computer. Basically the lap starts behind the S/F line with full speed and ends when you have crossed it again. 9. GPaedia: a GP3 encyclopaedia. Made in cooperation with Arrows F1 team to show eg. how the setup up your car, what are bump rubbers, etc. 10. New startup video -- Kulvinder Singh Matharu E-mail : ksmatharu # ieee . org [without the spaces and where #=@] Website: http://www.matharu.demon.co.uk/ "In the light universe I have been darkness..."

GP3 Video allows you to have unlimited replays with forward and back skipping (sorta like rewind, fastforward but in fixed jumps of 25 seconds). also jump to start and end of replay. [snip] Yep. I've got all the updates and it's a blast! I've got the following : 1. GP3Video for *long* video playback 2. 2001 carsets inc carshapes 3. 2001 physics updates 4. Updated 1998 trackpack plus Sepang, Indy and Monza track updates 5. New tracks such as a fictional "Honza" oval and the Rio oval track 6. GPxPatch for "3D" car sounds, new telemetry, pit radio sounds, track selections, etc (fantastic job by the people there!) 7. NOCD patch 8. GPEdit and GPMaster for control over car power, relative team dependent power, damage editor, colours, etc. It's all there. I think the GPxPatch for the 3D sounds is one of the most dramatic patches! -- Kulvinder Singh Matharu E-mail : ksmatharu # ieee . org [without the spaces and where #=@] Website: http://www.matharu.demon.co.uk/ "In the light universe I have been darkness..."

Am I the only one who loathes Monaco? There's no real interest for me on a circuit where overtaking is to all intents and purposes impossible. Martin D. Pay Don't bother to flame me over this - I know I'm 'out of step' with most F1 aficionados...

Oddly enough First Plc (who operate quite a lot of school bus contracts in the US) are about to start an experiment using US-style school buses over here in the UK... Martin D. Pay Now I get Jean Alesi in my team... ^_^
