Fired up GPL in XP and it was pretty bad cracks and pops from sound card.
Video stutter, poor FPS etc. N4 and SCGT work well but I wont it all in 1
OS.
I thought it was my imagination so booted in W2K and GPL was smoooth.
Tried various sound drivers and vid drivers which didn't help. My spec are:
Dual Boot:
XP RC2/ W2K
XP using the 12.90 drivers W2K 11.01's
566 Celeron O/ced to 876
512 Crucial PC 133
Inno Geforce2 MX o/ced 190/190
Santa Cruz Sound Card
Moniter refresh @ 85
2 IBM HD 7200 on Promise Controller
I think possibly the problem lays with the TB Santa Cruz drivers possibly
they have not have them developed properly yet.
Anyone with had this problem with a similar config in XP?
John
It's the sound card! I have been running various builds of the xp beta2 and
all of them performed very near to the Win 98! Intel, Asus and Creative
worked fine under XP!
I also use DX 8.0a and latest official Nvidia drivers (those made a world of
difference!), with that combo few very hardware hungry games worked well
with silky smooth fps's!

Exactly ! I also get a high pitched sound too. I think TB needs to get to
work with
a dercent XP driver. The W2K TB drivers work fine as I said in the original
post. Also
I tried the latest TB Santa Cruz XP drivers dated, I think 8/2 and it blue
screened
GPL and Janes WWII Fighters. The W2K Santa Cruz drivers do not work in
XP. Too bad I think the TB Santa Cruz is a good card and I bought it to
avoid
any issues with an upcoming upgrade to an AMD based system.

I bought a TBSC because my Hercules GTXP has no drivers (at all) that will
work under XP, and Hercules is in no hurry to support us. I'm kind of
pissed about that because I really love that card.
The TBSC, at $79, is a true bargain. EXCELLENT card.
The Windows XP beta drivers have worked flawlessly for me so far.
SoundBlaster Live card sounded absolutely terrible. Since the GTXP wouldn't
work, I had to get the TBSC.
For what it's worth, MS has really screwed up the sound layer in XP and has
broken damned near everything out there.
