Most glitches in sims have a way that you can continue to play them with some effort. However, Nascar 4 has a major glitch that takes all the fun out of the game. At Pocono, after leading until the first inevitable yellow flag, I was first going into the pits and first coming out. Instead of letting the race go on, the stupid game begins its "stay behind the __ car", and continues to tell me to stay behind every damned car on the track, until I am last in line and a lap behind. Then the s.o.b. gives me a black flag. This has happened the last few times I have tried the pocono track, in a season. I start good, lead, go to the pits only to end up last in line, a lap down, and a black flag to boot. This makes enjoyable play impossible. No help from Papy here. Anybody see the same things, or am I the lucky one to get a brain-dead copy of the damned game?
Havent seen this... Also, we ran Pocono at the LAN's... no problems. Yup, reminds me of Nascar 3 & Nascar Legends (Pre-Patch) Pace Lap/Yellow Flag Laps problems keeping track of the cars, especially with a full field. The patches were a help for this problem, and there are some "modified track.ini files" ala the Nascar 2 Talladega & Atlanta pit crashing fix patch. I haven't raced N4 offline "Full Race mode" except for a 100 lap at Daytona that was pretty yellow free. Just had the 4 or 5 group of cars that dove into the infield grass at the start. But I have had an erroneous Black Flag on a start pace lap online, where the pole sitter bailed before the start, and the game thought that he was still on the pace lap. "Stay behind the XX car" that wasn't even in the race. I slowed, but from the offline experience (Nascar Legends) I have had with this, sometimes ya just gotta pull off down onto the apron and stop to avoid the penalty, and I didn't want to create a pileup of the 20 racers behind me. Result: Black Flag on the First Lap. I watched the replay and I hadn't passed the pace car, so it must have been the invisible pole sitter. Haven't seen that problem at Pocono, but did loose two laps at Martinsville due to a similar phenomenon. I wasn't let out from behind the pacecar when it failed to pick up the leader and subsequently had to give way to most of the field. Then, when I attempted to get my lap back by staying out at the next yellow, the same thing happened again. I was forced to stay behind an AI car which was 3 lap down and the entire field was allowed to lap me *again*. I don't have the time at the moment to seriously consider running online at the moment and this sort of stuff really detracts from the off-line game. Something similar happened to me online the other day at Daytona. I was running 5th and was told to "Stay behind the #112 car". But at the same time he was constantly shouting "Let them by". I didn't understand anything, but got a 1:30 minute black flag at the restart and lost three laps. Very annoying. The guy in front got DQ'ed, so perhaps he was in the wrong spot, dragging me with him. Some laps later, I was three laps down, but behind the leader when the yellow came up. The leader pitted and I was right behind the pace car. I did not get told to pass the pace car, but all the other drivers were giving me a hard time because they ment I was in the way, including ramming me from behind (!?!). When some of them passed me I was told to pass them again. All this combined with a bunch of untalented people who couldn't even form a formation lap without messing up on a 50 lap race, and sure did not know how to run a yellow laps, made for a very interesting race. There should be a pace line order list in the information window.
